Ebay scam One of my customers have just been conned out of £4000 Someone from Europe with a sob story selling a an A4 one or two years old and saying her dad had died and needed a quick sale. He's a proper mug for falling for it but there's probs people on here who would fall for something like that
read in the mixmag a while back sum kid got two boxes of books instead of two brand new cdj's. still to this day i havent bought anything off ebay
I've bought loads of stuff including PCs, decks, game consoles, video project and a couple of cars. It's a risk buying stuff from ebay but a very small one if you know what you are doing.
good to hear, missed quite a few bargains over this kids story in mixmag. will consider it from now on. any tips on who/who not to buy from?
ebay is a huge risk and its not as of u can pop 2 ebay and get ure money back or return the defected item but i think ebay is great for clothes and cd's n that
I only buy by mail order from people that have loads of good feedback. If I want to get something off someone who has crap feedback I will go meet them to collect the item. I will only do this if it's a absolute steal. I never buy an item without watching other auctions for similar items for a couple of weeks so I can work out what the actual market value of an item is. hope this helps, I'm no expert but I've done pretty well so far.
there are so many on ebay, they are identifiable by the fact that they are cheap as chips for a start....lol did he pay via paypal? cos they get it back for him
On the most part, if someone has high feedback then you can tend to trust it IMO. Having said that, I don't buy expensive stuff off it. eBay should take more responsibility really, if someone gets screwed over they should refund the buyer and then go after the seller!
ebay is really dodgy its hard when you have kids that are getting conned - i have stopped going on there i have only ever bought a few bits and bobs but what i have bought hasnt eventually been worth it, when you take in to account P&P and any returns then it can turn in to a right mare if you dont get ripped off its great, but all it takes is for one seller to think - fuck it im keeping the money and they can get mates to leave bogus feedback
You are slightly more protected if you pay by Paypal too. Especially if an item doesnt turn up at all. For the most part though, I use ebay both to buy and sell and I think it's great. Like Rob said, if you know what you're doing, you should be fine.
I'm not 100% sure but it defo wasn't paypal. The police are trying to get him his money back I work in insurance
cool if the guys who he has given his money too isnt even in the UK its looking a bit slim he might be an international theif though and scammed loads of people - exciting (not for the people who have been scammed though obviously )
Was from Germany or Sweden or somewhere like that. I can't believe he fell for it. He's been dead excited about getting his new car and now he's proper gutted
