as the promoter of the night in question I could answer that, I could even tell you why stanton warriers didn't turn up, and why satellite was doomed to failure from the start, but then some internet nobody would start having a pop at me, so I think I'll go and do something useful instead like ironing my socks... sorry, you're obviously much better off asking blocka coz he's obviously the oracle

not long like 6 months maybe? I lived in edinburgh for a year when it was open think I only went once

this thread seems to be about hard dance nights I think, and I don't really know what was goin on in the hard dance scene in the toon ten years ago and don't know now either, the only hard dance night I remember going to back then was viva at the riverside and arcane, nice used to be mainly trance and hard dance back then I think apart from when tuff jam played (that was amazing)
think ten years ago if you liked hard dance you just went to the ritzy or equivalent non? think I remember all the mainstream clubs played hard dance back then like they all play r'n'b now?

You have to admit though you generally start posts with...

'as a promoter...' EVEN THIS ONE!!!

Also, better an internet nobody than an internet somebody imo

I've no idea, genres weren't so tight as they are now back then, what i remember of viva it was banging techno and hard house stuff quite jolly not tresor stuff or owt  same went for arcane

Nice was mainly trance and hard house back then and I can't really remember going to any other hard dance things but i'm sure the ritzy, madisons and the like used to get hard house/happy hardcore acts on most weeks

dunno I remember they used to play this all the time when I went
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4o4joooH5tg"]YouTube- DJ Misjah & DJ Tim - Access[/ame]

and stuff like it, dunno if that's proper techno or not kinda hard housey to me I think,
they played quite a bit of psychadelic trancey kinda stuff too I think,
to be honest I can't remember it was just banging, I was only 17 and went there as it was somewhere i could go and get off my tits

yeah I remember that, had about 20 people in the night I popped my head through the doors IIRC.

hard dance wise i guess you had kai foyen, kerry james and that crew doing resonate on thursday (?) nights at rockshots for a while around then, though i don't really think the hard dance name was being used much, more hard house, trance, nu nrg etc.

actually when did promise start? must have been around 97-98 or so wasn't it?

firstly in case you missed it, I actually said - 'as the promoter of the night in question', not 'as a promoter'.

when someone's asking a specific question about an event or club I was personally involved in running, I do tend to find it's useful to include that information in the answer so the person asking the question knows that you actually might have a clue what you're talking about.

I could have just answered that question with the facts that Satellite was open for around 7 months from October 2002 to May/june 2003 (ish), and the stanton warriors cancelled that night because one of them had stupidly booked a plane ticket to go on holiday for 5am the next day from heathrow, when he wasn't going to be done djing up here til 3am, and he chose going on holiday over fullfilling his professional contacted djing commitments up here. But as this is the internet, and there's hundreds of people like yourself out there, perfectly prepared to regurgitate any half arsed rumour they've heard as fact, I sometimes think it's useful to let people know whether or not you were involved in the event in question so they can judge how likely it is that you know what you're on about.

I guess I should also have added, as the dj who stood in for the stanton warriors on the night as well eh.

maybe you could help the rest of us out by starting all your posts with something like 'as a clubber who was dribbing in the corner I don't have much of a clue what I'm talking about, but I'm gonna have a pop at anyone who does anyway...' just a thought.
