agree with this although i think their music sounds really dated now..had a big impact on fashion aswell..people wearing skinny jeans, converse, leather jackets ect

I don't think you are ever too old to get excited by new music.I was already an old fart when I discovered dance music. Jazz, which I used to detest, now excites me in a way I would have never believed when I was 16

It amazes me when you find people who are still listening to the music of their youth into their 40's and 50's. like the old punks you still see knocking about.
They found something age 16 and then stopped looking. Sad really.
That doesn't mean you never listen to your old music just that you stay alive to new things

As Ferox said earlier there is a whole world of really interesting music out there and the internet has made it so much easier to find. But you do have to look. If you sit about waiting for radio to deliver it to you you won't find it. I miss Pandora Radio for that.
As for the next youth movement, who knows? As the world moves so will the music. Bring it on.

Working at HMV I can testify to this - full of a shop of people (staff included), most older than me, who were into allsorts.

I love listening to music in all forms, not just dance. I'll give anything a listen once. As long as something is original or unique, I'll always have a butchers.

I think maybe the problem with todays music scene is that it's too commercialized. The record companies churn out one bland act after another, with nothing unique about them.

Maybe over the next few years the internet will allow the artist to reconnect with the public, and lessen the grip of the record companies and agents - if this happens, then you may see the artists coming through with a bit more imagination and ambition than the latest boy/girl band...

A lot of british designers still take a lot of their inspiration from music then the 'looks' filter down to the highstreet...but it is always going to be more difficult for lads to wear something a little bit wilder; especially in newcastle.

Mos I know your talking about something that was bigger than this, but I think it still happens just on a smaller scale.

I think in London its probably more noticeable.

And by that I mean groups of people listening to a certain type of music, then dressing a certain way because of it.

I didnt actually know that! :)

I just think fashion and music come hand in hand and probably always will.

I doubt there'll ever be something as big as punk etc though, people are more segregated in general now. Theres always going to be somebody saying 'Im not doing that cos I want to be different'...

""We started off basically as a noise band; now that has just been turned around completely. Music is really tricky in that you think you've got it pinned down - what you know about music and what you're into - until something comes along and completely changes your perception of things, or your tastes change completely. It's constantly evolving and changing before your eyes and I find that really exciting - where you're going to go next is out of your control to an extent." Graham Sutton (Bark Psychosis)
