To be fair there is a lot of people that go to minimal and tech house nights because its cool and not because of the music. DC10 is terrible for it and Fabric is full of greasy Italians wearing shades. It would be interesting to see how many people wouldnt go if you took away all the glamorous bits. I love minimal and tech house - i follow what goes on and go to as many nights as possible so to paint everyone with the same brush is fucking stupid. You could quite easily say trance and hard house nights are full of horrible little pikeys that know fuck all about the music and only go because they heard a proper banging Eddie set but nevermind.
Alas, you have a point with the pikey's - however that's due to the death of that shite Spanish bollocks that they seemed to listen to on loop, and hardhouse/trance/banging waxa's is the step below that, a shift of a subculture within the clubbing scene that we could of really done without. Ahem: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Techno tech⋅no –noun a style of disco music characterized by very fast synthesizer rhythms, heavy use of samples, and a lack of melody. Origin: 1985–90 bit outdated if you ask me
This weekend was the first time ive seen the Psychedelic Starfish/Paul O'Grady wearing a pair of jeans! He's a good looking lad when he puts the effort in
haha i knew it would of been camp david, i walked past on way to work other night and its saying free before half 11? it always used to be free, all they got is a later licence in which to make more money anyways?
I really enjoyed Friday, think it's a shame wax on aint gonna belike that anymore, thought it worked really well on friday having the main room and upstairs really busy all night you got the more accessible student friendly stuff packing the main room and then a smaller space for the more underground cleer stuff upstairs which has a big enough following to fill that space too, it was nice to be in a big club that was rammed in Newcastle for a purely dance night for a change but good luck with the new thing, sounds interesting
I do continue to buy and play this style and some of the better squat stuff is still in this style as well. Poeple do still like it i used to play it in my warmup sets at backlash and poeple really get into it. Tends to be the old freaky Dancing crowd and all the younger free party ravers. Plus futher down the country its still the main style at the illegal squat partys which still happen for up tp 2000 folk in london and bristol most weekends.
I like minimal and my haircut only cost £7 :spangled: I also like DJ Rush and Pet duo. Techno can mean different things to different people.
7 quid , i remember when you could get a short back and sides at henrys on high bridge for a fiver damn credit crunch
It might be becoming less 'trendy' but it will still be around. Ill stick with it and continue to ignore 'trendy' deep stuff.
aye, that's what i enjoyed about Cassy on Friday she mixed it up same goes for this Mike Servito mix I was listening to recently, he played mostly tech/minimal stuff then throws in daft punks remix of disco cubizm
deep house isnt shit like, neithers minimal, the sounds just evolving. well my sound is personally and im tending to buy stuff thats more housey and more organic sounding. not to follow a trend its just its what i like at the min. still love minimal and buy minimal records, just buying a wider spectrum of genres now!
