does my head in this like..seems like a lot of people stop playing tunes when they are a few weeks old or sumat, i love hearin old stuff. Agree about dj's who play all different genres 2, not many dj's id get excited about seeing tbh..some of the music i enjoyed the most last year got played upstairs at error

what seperates the top djs from the rest imo is the fact they play different kinds of stuff, it's been like that forever though, listen to old Ron Hardy/wbmx mixes and they've got jazz, disco, soul, house, electro allsorts going on

I was saying to Binni the other week I'd love to hear somebody dropping jackin minimal stuff over the top of a MAW style jazzy/latin track reckon it would sound wicked

Werent cd's meant to make everyone suddenly be able to carry about their whole music collection and all djs suddenly became jacks of all genres.

I hate cds, spent about 7 years trying to get some kind of system sorted but still failing miserably.

It would sound atrocious.

I reckon it'd sound good, listen to some old ron hardy/wbmx style mixes they throw pounding house stuff over disco tracks to devastating effect,
Cobblestone jazz kinda been doing it on their tracks a bit by mixing organs in there, just putting something organic sounding in with the electronic sounds

as for jackin minimal I dunno minimal that has a heavier and more straight up kick hi hat formula to it than some of the more experimental stuff

So true actual having a music collection and playing across the board but getting a feeling and a sound going in your set and not caring what style or year the track was made in goes along way.

Welll to me anyway. Still love to hear techno and by that i mean all styles and ages of the music played well on a good system by a good dj who works the records and the mixer.
