They never said I had it as such, i had a couple of the symptoms.
Andy had it, one of the lads who was away with us.
He's fine now though but we were all worried for him.

They aren't diagnosing it at all.

Only a small number of people reporting symptoms will actually be tested for it and diagnosed.

Soon you won't even be seeing a doctor or even a pharmacist to get the drugs for it.

iv seen signs for the collection points on my way to work.

dont think i want the injection, dont want to take the risk with it being new and theres no point as it will mutate

was at the doc's today about a smashed ankle and there was a HUGE 5ft sign at the door saying that anyone with symptoms with cold or flu should bugger off home and ring them.

We shouldn't be pissing all our tamiflu away on swine flu - better to save it for something more serious like bird flu.

Apparently the current flu vaccine may provide some cross cover.

why are you always some form of conspiracy theorist when it comes to medication? tamiflu will seriously increase your chances of survival if you do contract swine flu, as will relenza. neither of those just 'reduce the amount of time it takes to recover by a day or so', they're both neuraminidase inhibitors. several influenza viruses, included the h1n1 'swine flu' vaccine, 'spread' by binding to neuraminidase and thus replicating. both tamiflu and relenza (which, for some reason, nobody seems to be using) inhibit neuraminidase, thus prevent the virus from binding, thus prevent its spread. the implications of this are that it prevents the spread of the host, thus reduces the spread throughout more suceptible tissues and cells, and also reduces the risk of the virus spreading from host to host.

to put that in simple terms, if you contract h1n1 in your upper respiratory tract, you'll probably survive with a few weeks of anti-virals. if you get it in your lower respiratory tract, you're pretty much fucked. tamiflu is the best chance you've got of stopping it going that far.

i do agree with andy to an extent though, we shouldn't be getting rid of all of it on h1n1, it's probably only really necessarily for 'risk groups'. we do have a shedload of it that we stockpiled a few years ago though.

and jimmy - antivirals are antimicrobials, as are antibiotics, so they're of a similar category :)

There ain't no conspiracy THEORY here. It's a fact that mass vacination has a risk of death does it not? There is also history of auto immune response to the vaccines and the ingredients in them is there not?

Also, Tamiflu is being pitched as a cure for this thing when it clearly is NOT a cure. It's an anti viral and does not stop you catching this thing at all.

Lastly would you trust a vaccine company that was caught shipping live bird flu in it's vaccines only a few months back?

It's a matter of personal ethics at the end of the day - it would be nice to get a balanced view as opposed to propaganda that amounts to basically being told that vaccines are some miracle cure that never goes wrong and that tamiflu is gong to save everyone.

My work went into a panic last week as someone came back from Mexico and came into work despite feeling ill... got sent home immediately like. Not too worried myself, but we've got 3 lasses who've just come back off maternity leave who are pretty concerned. So far the only other people to call in sick saying they have symptoms are someone who'd just got back from Ibiza and the office hypochondriac.

that's too much a generalisation. there's as much risk of death from the h1n1 vaccine as there is from a normal flu vaccine, or a mmr vaccine. are you opposed to those too?

you're confusing two things here. to 'cure' a disorder, the disease must first be in place. tamiflu prevents its spread, and also works as a prophylactic. if you're already taking tamiflu/relenza, the virus cannot bind, bud or spread throughout cells, thus both substances minimise or abolish infection/symptoms.

that's the whole point in a vaccine - a small amount of live virus so that the immune system can develop the lymphocytes and antibodies necessary to prevent infection if a larger dose is pathogen is contracted.

But this is a vaccine for an OLD strain! It will be useless for a recombined version that will supposedly be the 'lethal' one.

When i say they shipped live bird flu, i mean they actually shipped LIVE bird flu out in ANOTHER vaccine supposedly 'by accident'!!!

    http://socioecohistory.wordpress.co...axter-vaccine-materials-sent-to-18-countries/

Now .... this current vaccine they are developing is being fast tracked through safety procedures in order to make it to market 'on time'. Would YOU trust someone to jab you with an experimental vaccine, for an old strain of a virus that isnt THAT lethal from a company that accidentally put LIVE bird flu in another vaccine?

There is a growing unrest among ALOT of people, including many many many doctors about the safety of vaccines and how they have been linked to autism, auto immune conditions and death. Its one of those things where everyone is conditioned to think 'oh well this wont happen to me' but there are plenty of people who have had their lives ruined by being basically used as experimental petri dishes by big pharma companies who seem to decide on a yearly basis that we need more and more and more and more injections to 'protect us'.

As i said before, people need to know before they roll up their sleeve that these things arent necessarily going to be the magic bullet that saves the world from bird/swine/dog/cat/iguana/dinosaur flu. If anything, this is an experiment involving hundreds of millions of people to see 'what happens'.

Anyways, lets dig this up in 6 months time or a few months after everyone gets shot up and if everything goes ok i'll eat my words.

Mix your skeptical view on health and a shitload of smoking weed for years and you have my brother. He is currently in the kitchen checking for some sort of magnetic wave with a gadget he bought over the net.

Hahah ... ahh well. I've seen a few documentaries and films about vaccines and read up on a few reports and came to my own personal conclusion about them. Theres a growing anti-vaccine movement mainly from doctors and parents who have experience of vaccines maiming their kids or from seeing patients die from them. I've went from being totally FOR mass vaccination to completely AGAINST it as a result.

I'm honestly willing to eat my words if im wrong. We'll see.

This is what happens when you take skepticism too far.
