Our Drugs War Starts on Channel 4 tonight 8pm Looks like a decent insight into the world of drugs. 'Drugs. Its a bloody minefield. For the most part, people seem to take them recreationally without too much fuss. A lot of those people are those that chastise the drug trade in the press. However, the underbelly of the drugworld is unspeakably grim. And so, we go to Our Drugs War (Channel 4, Monday, 2 August, 8pm) in the first of a new series, subtitled: Everyone's at It. This first of a three-parter examines the global impact of drugs on society, focusing in particular on Scotland. Why Scotland? Well, it was named by the UN as Europe's drug capital. Angus Macqueen visits an estate in Edinburgh with a couple of volunteers from the anti drug charity, Crew. Together, they look at how the trade operates on a day-to-day basis and how some children as young as eight are involved in it all. There's also the prickly topic of how the police are trying to control the situation. Alas, it is an unenviable task as reports state that the law enforcers have seized just one per cent of the heroin consumed'
The fools in europe didnt take into account scotlands tiny population in accordance to drug use. This propbably shows the type of program this will be.
it always focusses on smack and crack and then equates all other substances as being 'drugs' and therefore just as bad
They will also be looking into the possibility of making drugs legal and how the war on drugs is making things worse
it was totally lame iv seen to many sniverling middle class familys crying over their prefect sons who drown in their own vomit after taking more drugs than The Beatles. i think id OD if i lived with most of these flora skirt wearing FUCKS. looking forward to next weeks in nyc tho
It wasn't the usual all drugs are bad crack. Its going the route of that the 'war on drugs' isn't working as more and more people are taking drugs and they need to look at why people are taking drugs instead of banning them (which leads to people taking alternatives which aren't always as safe).
I thought it was quite a refreshing look at the drug scene, will definitely be watching the next one. Some of the scenes in Edinburgh were shocking like
I wonder if the rest of the series is going to look at the economical advantages to legalised drugs. The fact that society would in essence become recession proof and not to mention the enormous amount of money that the government would save on not policing this anymore, along with all of the empty rooms in prisons. I think its rediculous that someone who smokes a plant is classed as a criminal in the same league as murderers and rapists
