Im Worried Im worried about promise. i think it has really went downhill. i dont know why but recently they has being sum very poor turnouts in promise. i dont know why this is but i doubt it could continue on 4eva if it stays like this. i was expecting it 2 be really busy on fri with promise vs goodgreef on but it was dead doubt promise would have even made any money out of it. it's a real shame 2 see promise go like this as it is an excellent club! anyone any ideas on what coud be done to make it better?
my 7 my m8's were very very surprised to say the least by how quiet it was..specially 4 the last couple of hours..... by 4am the dance floor was very very quiet.........
teach the general population of newcastle that theres more to clubbing than ikon and the boat, and that just cos a dj doesn’t play on radio 1, doesn’t mean they re shit, and not worth going to see. Apart from that advertising a lot more!
if it stays that quiet 4 a while surly promise wont b able to continue putting on weekly nites. that would b a sad day for trance in newcastle. i hope it gets better
See folks, that's just it. YOU think there's more to clubbing than Ikon etc. But a lot of people couldn't give a damn. All the clubs playing cheese (70s, 80s, 90s. 'old skool', CHART) are doing really well (and then some). The big companies (the likes of First Leisure, Ultimate Leisure, Luminar Leisure) - they're all into what's SAFE. They know that as long as they do what the majority of people want (cheese etc) they're onto a moneyspinner. Why take risks by trying to innovate and lead the rest? Clubland is bland and is getting duller by the week. A lot of people (me included) aren't bothering with clubs so much anymore coz they all seem to be doing the same things. I can't remember the last time I was in a club where I felt 1. I wasn't being judged 2. I was enjoying myself 3. SAFE (i.e. not surrounded by pilled-up kids chewing their lips off). 4. I wasn't being ripped off. 5. That I could probably do better than the 'DJ' who was probably being paid far too much anyway. Well actually I CAN remember. I was in the back room @ promise, but even then I felt self-conscious because I wasn't decked out in expensive 'designer' gear. What happenned to people not giving a damn about anything but the music?!?!?!?!?! Hand on heart, how many people do any of us know (at work etc) who go clubbing to DANCE and to HEAR MUSIC they like?!?!?!? Aren't clubs just somewhere to go when the pubs & bars shut? That's changing, which is possibly another reason why clubs are dying out. So many other places have late licences now. I think we've seen the last of the superclubs with massive weekly attendances. Dance music, in its most common form, has become nothing more than POP music. I for one will be glad when the likes of GK etc die out and the KIDS stay at home with their glowsticks (& all the other f***king STUPID paraphanalia) - then clubbing can start again and become something more than it is now. It hasn't evolved for years and it's long overdue.
Clubland is bland = YOU NEED A WEEKEND OUT WITH ME! 1. Which club were you in when you were getting judged? 2. I always enjoy myself when I am out 3. All them krazy kids off there face being nice isn't SAFE!!!!!!!! What do they do break your hand when shaking it for 95th time. 4. If you think you are DONT PAY! 5.So where do you play ? Who is your agent? Can you enter the Sunday Trading DJ comp as I would love to hear you play Is the Always room full of people in expensive 'designer' gear? I mean really is it ?
Stop supporting arena events as its killing regular clubbing. You only need to look at what GC done, they killed themselves.
I think if people stopped spending so much time on chatboards talking shit about how the clubs this the clubs that and actually made the effort to gather up the troops and go every Friday then it would be doing a whole lot better than it seemingly is just now... Personally I think its more internet guff. Im sure the place is still going strong..
Noticing bland trance is killing the club is definitly the first step like! What happened to Leibing,Vath & Gabby Vasano? Are these names anything to do with the new look??
I find this a slightly odd quote given that your name is pillfacegurner. I also fail to understand why people feel self conscious in the Promise back room and places like Shindig. In my experience the people who go, and may dress a bit more expensively, are just as nice as everyone else. It's prejudices like these that are going towards the demise of club land. And that also goes for people having a go about lads who wear shirts etc, which doesn't necessarily make them a beered up charva looking for trouble. Looking forward to the 'new look' Promise in April and onwards!
