    small club nights...

why dont they seem to be working?
even the free ones are never really busy?

    what are they doing wrong?
what would u like to see?
    where @
what would it take to get you out to a small night?

or is it all about massive scale commercial clubbing now?

last night i went to smile @ foundation

my mate said its not too busy in here is it? i replied if this was promise this would be one of the busiest nights of the year.

the problem lies in north -east culture; people want to go out and get smashed and it doesnt matter what the music is like: the reason why baja and blu bambu are so successful.

only a small minority of folks in the north east go out to listen to music.

don't think its that batty, problem is more the standard fare of bosh bosh parpy hard trance more bosh that we get at many of the nights that you're probly thinking of....... its boring and im bored sick of it, some variety pls.

like Disfunk (deep house) which filled baltic bar the other week, hed kandi (funky house) rams stereo every sunday, Work (also funky house) filled stereo on a tuesday night. its the bosh that's failing not the small nights

Have to agree with the previous posts. Small dance nights normally only attract those who are friends of the promoters and DJs. Its extremely difficult to fill a small night week in, week out. The key to a small night is to probably do it every term rather than week or fortnight. Small nights should also consider doing bar events in between clubnights. That way they don't lose so much money and have an audience to play in front of more regularly.

i know its good and everything.....but it is busy, to a certain extent, because its seen as cool by loads of people, different groups in newcastle.

it gets loads and loads of people in just becasue its shindig, its on @ foundation, and its on a saturday. thats what gets all the geordies in who dont go for the music (ie people from my office! who go just because its on @ foundation on a sat. they see it as a big night out to go there on a sat....)

im not trying to take anything away from shindig at all! its probably the best hous night in the county...there are alot who do go for the music, but just as many who go just because its cool, and cos its shindig.

i know im right, becasue, it will even be busy when they start to book prog DJs over the next year, where as if promise did it, it would be toally empty.

    :) :)

    you clueless cunts :p

half a point for Hed Kandi revel, im sure lot of the people do go for the image factor, but I know a lot of them also go cos the ylike the music.

as for Shindig, can you back that up at all???

Shindig is widely regarded as the best house night in the UK, and the crowd is regarded by many of the DJs who play there as the most appreciative and musically educated around, so you 3 are just talking shite :D

Good music, atmosphere and people I know. Cheap drinks dont go a miss either :p Thats why I always go to Vuzz before Promise as it has all those elements in abundance.

At the minute I would be willing to try out smaller nights that offered me something a bit different to the norm musicwise just for the experience of trying something new
