well, well it seems like alot of you clowns have alot of anger building up in yerself's. So once more it seems that I must step up onto my high and mighty soapbox as its called. Its funny smat E using anti-prog quotes from muzik mag. Would that be the same music media coverage that creates all the hype surrounding sasha/prog which was his argument for why davey ruthers liked prog a few months ago when this board first started? Because if so, that quote doesnt really tally up does it you hypocritical tosser!

I just hope you're all individuals and don't go to promise dressed as wannabe crasher kids in all that cyberdog wear. Cos that would be sad wouldn't it.

The only one talking any sense is the promoter who makes some valid pts. Any tips on how I would go about starting my own nite in a small little intimate venue?

Do i think i am better than all you? No. i used to go to gatecrasher in sheffield when it was at the arches, before it ever even moved to republic and i enjoyed myself. So I don't think I am somehow intellectually above you for going to prog nites. But the fact remains that any of you tits could go down hmv 2day and buy 20 slices of vinyl and play a set as good as say scott bond. Have the dj's at promise these days cant beat match for toffee. There shit! You listen to there mixing! Then compare it with pappa in a few weeks! I challenge you!

    What about goldens masterclass nites?

Doesn't look like I'm another prog head being beaten off the board in two mins now does it?

I have to say I do like progressive (but I prefer to listen to it at home), it's just that it hasn't really worked in clubs up here. Same as it's been very difficult to put on regular hard house nights. Both prog and hh seem to do better in the Midlands and Sheffield areas. Perhaps it's because they have a better catchment area there, with more people geographically closer to the big clubs.

For anyone wanting to start their own night, it's very hard to do it at a weekend as most clubs already have things on. You will either have to go to somewhere really small, or do it on a week night.

    Re: Developments@Promise

    What?!?!?!?

How the fuck does a Magazine slating a know it all progressive fan have anything at all to do with whether they consider a genres cool or not... I fail to see the hypocricy in this statement... please enlighten me oh clever progressive head!

I wear cyberdog to promise, I used to wear cyberdog to crasher... I fail to see how this makes me any less original than some gibbon in D & G or a top man t-shirt... now theres an orriginal outfit... Not only do you have superior music taste to us but you also have superior dress sense!!!! Please oh clever one tell me what a cool rriginal unique progressive fan like yourself wears to promise!!!! IDIOT!

The promoter hasn't commented! I can garuantee when Mark gets back form his holiday and see's your posts he'll have dicky fit...

Not only are you a cool clubber now but you went to crasher back in the day - if only we could all be as cool and underground as you!

*bows down 2 the original crasher kid*

    Yes your intelligent

Tell you what you seem such fucking genius... you could DJ at your own underground progressive night cos your blatantly sooooo much better than some of the top ranking trance DJ's in the country....

I can't wait - I can tell everyone I knew farmer giles when he was a cunt!

    NOB!

For the record I enjoy prog and love richards, tonys, corvins, papa's warm up slots... but entire nights no thank you...

Oh and as for cream - cream sell out when they put DJ's liek Tiesto on... when they have the likes of seb on they rarely sell out and usually just have 2 rooms open....

And progressive clubs are no where near as big as trance clubs in the UK:

    Gatecrasher
    Godskitchen
    Slinky
    Passion

But what counts to us is what works in newcastle as we're not in NY or London we're in newcastle and progressive doesn't pull the crowds... we're not talking brain surgery its very simple!

Your an intelligent progressive head... work it out.

Open yer ears people. Nobody can say that john kelly, scott bond, matt hardwick etc can mix as well as pappa. The guy won the australian dmc mixing championships when he was 16. Why pay a tenner to get into a club and listen to a dj doin somethin you could probably do in yer bedroom. A good dj can take u on a journey slowly building it uo to a climax. Alot would argue like good sex! Who wants to listen to music that goes at it like two dogs fucking from the word go. Theres no talent in that. And the club shouldnt have to start a nite with prog music and finish with trance so the nite builds, just to hide the fact that the dj aint capable of doin it himself cos hes shit!

    LMAO @ Smart E -

    go joe!!!

well as far as im concerned, this farmer bloke has caused some grief which WE all agreed not to do again since having that discussion on the board with Mark and everyone else about not letting the board go down hill by slating and slagging off people and opinions etc.....in other words we dont want this board to become a Godskitchen or Gatecrasher board......

so why is Farmer Giles even on here, hes just caused a post about grief and started a slag match!!! so can we stop please....and Farmer, if u have any maturity in you you will realise to just let us be, we have our club, our music, and our board....
    you dont like it??? LEAVE!!!

Yep. They're shit. That's why they're getting paid to travel the world playing to packed venues, and you're sitting here complaining about it to a group of people who, for the most part, couldn't give a shit.

The majority of the people here go to promise every week and have fun. I'm sorry you don't. Get over it. I just did.

Regardless of any DJs mixing ability, I'd rather go out at least some of the time than listen to something in my own bedroom as part of the enjoyment is seeing other people!

Evidently a lot of people would like to go out and listen to 'music that sounds like two dogs fucking', which is why Promise is more full now than it was when it was more prog. You say that you aren't better than anyone and that you aren't a music snob. In that case why do you make comments like that? The whole point is that it is people's choice. If that's what they want to listen to, then why shouldn't they?

I also take it from your comments that you are a talented DJ in your own right, and that you could mix 'music that sounds like ...', or indeed any other sort of music. If so, why aren't you doing it rather than just slagging off everything else?

You've convinced us all farmer... progressive DJ's are gods and well other DJ's they can't even beat mix.... I wouldn't give them a job at a school disco... progressive DJ's are so superior.

But I couldn't give two shits... these retarded, talent-lacking, unable to beat match, pathetic excuses of DJ's - make me dance, they make me smile, I have a good time... they take my simple retarded self on a journey... I don't need 12 turntables, 13 modules, 5 mixers, a live PA and a robotic band all controlled by a blind folded, one armed, progressive DJ to have a good night. I know its sad but a trance DJ like Matt hardwick, Eddie Halliwell, Joy Kitikonti - takes me on my journey.... but then I'm not as intelligent as you - I don't need mental stimulation - just ear candy.

See my simple retarded mind is satisfied with DJ's that excite it.... not educate it. I go out to have a good time.

Have you ever been to cream smart e? cos if you had you would know u are talking bollox! Ive been to cream when its been tiesto and tall paul in the main room, emerson in the annexe and sasha in the cortyard. The nite was a sell out a month beforehand which is unheard of for cream. And once in the club you had to queue 45 mins just to get in the courtyard. It was the mainroom that was empty!

If prog doesnt work why do cream have fontaine and maas as residents? surely if these dont attract crowds wouldnt this be bad business sense on the part of the club. As others have so stupidly pointed out in this very thread. Maybe this exposes that point for the bag of shite it really is!

So really where exactly does your point stand up? Because it really doesn't seem too to me mate.
