foundations capacity is 1300 i think.. which is pretty big in the scale of most clubs in the country... ikon would NEVER loose its stigma even if it got ripped out, i think the same olds would slowly filter back.. +foundation seems to suit promise, even if it could do with a lick of paint here n'there.. if extra space is needed theres always the storage room they could convert.. but still theres plenty of room for creating extra space if they really need it, which i don't think they do to be honest..
I suppose the carpet would come out and floors like that of foundation would be there.. I personally love the industrial look that foundation has.. Neil
to quote slam! - M8- whats the worst thing thats happened to clubland in the last 15 years? Slam!- loads of phoneys jumping the bandwagon, from sponsors to superclubs - there's a clean out going on right now. superclubs are very much sumthin of the past now imo.. i mean that 'tag' btw.. not the actual clubs...
I know we are happy where we are but the thought of bigger club just sounds too good, Tulip loved tall trees..... i think a bigger venue would attract more people from different places... not nocking Foundation jus saying we could be bigger...
that promise becoming a 'superclub' isn't something thats gonna happen because the era when mos/slinky/cream/gk/gc/colours ruled the roost is gone.. its not like theres that 'superclub' class anymore.. if promise does well its gonna be damn good club.. but not a superclub.. :spangled: if that makes sense...
no we couldnt not in newcastle!! It will never be Gatecrasher not that i want it to be... I love promise where it is cause its intense and dark and friendly and loud . do u want me to go on!!! You put promise in a bigger club and you loose all those qualities well yo an extent anyway.. Neil
Well even if were up there with them...... But we need a bigger venue to do it. Since Promise went monthly it's done so well! The line up's have been good enough to get ppl in from all over.
I'm just glad that foundation drips with sweat just like the riverside used to... memories. And big venues don't necessarily mean better nights... I've had some of my best nights/mornings out in the backrooms/basements of pubs and social clubs
Totally agree there mate, as i say it would be nice to step up to a bigger venue but we still got a great night here whatever happens.
think like neil said does promise 'want' to do it? promise is good because its relitivley small.. i know a fair few people who came to the last one with us who havent been since promise was real prog/trance a year or two back and loved it.. but i think it needs time yet.. jus a thought, look at tribals, sankeys is a small club yet they manage to have the weekender every year and gathering when they can and theyre massively successful...
Re: Phuture Promise Just seeing what people thought, i'm happy at Foundation as is most people if not Everybody...... Foudation
I always said if I won the lottery I would buy that and totally do it out, big phat sound system, good decor and a twat free door policy
How would moving to a bigger club in the city encourage more people to go? You're selling your night, not where you have it. This is what will entise people to go, what Promise is offering them. If it moved to a much bigger club and you dont get the people through the door you've got an half empty club and a problem, A club which is depressing, cold, with a halfhearted atmosphere and mounting costs. Crasher early last year before it went monthly got so bad at times the upstairs was closed off and empty by 4am downstairs. Sundissential Norths second room isn't always open like sunday just gone. It's embarrassing for the clubs and you push clubbers away. When this happens, does this still make them great successful clubs? It will tarnish their reputation. This was Gatecrasher and Sundissential, they're great clubs in their own right, but when this happens, does it make them any better than a smaller club which still manages to get the people in, it may be less people, but they're accomodating for their crowd, and its a smaller club that suits them, but it's always busy. Big isn't always better and sometimes the bigger you go, the harder you fall.
promise is fine where it is a think maybe doing a few quaterley gigs elswhere wouldt do anyharm... bigger locations remember = more advertising to atract more people to fill da bigger club, so i think it could be done just not every time promise is on as that would end up being the same amount opf people who weould fill foundation making a bigger cluib look empty....
thats quite a good thought. Clubbing is about dancing and enoying the music and when Promise brings in the big names they also bring in the big crowds. Sometimes dangerous amounts. It would be nice to say, right thats it, enough. Although that goes against the $$$ thing, which isnt what the owner is bothered about. And I also dont see how hosting Promise at a bigger club, ie Ikon would bring in their crowd. If they want to go to Promise, they can do, the same with us. I actually know a lot of people who do the Promise\Quality thing on Fridays and Ikon on the Saturday. They arent twats. They just think that its an easy night to possibly pull a bird\lad. I bet you all know some ppl that do that also !
