I dont think the messageboard peeps should be arguing the point about going/not going anyways - They were/are the best customers the club had/has. Surely the ones who made the club go monthly were the ones who didnt love the club and the scene not enough to go to the messageboards, or go at least 2-3 times a month.. "The Masses" so to speak... yay/nay?
a lot of loyal people don't use the board and a lot of arm chair clubbers do use the board... its not a case of the most loyal come on here (although a lot do)
So will Promise from now on only ever be monthly ???? or is there a chance if demand picks up again it could go twice monthly, three times monthly or even back to weekly ????
Armchair... That’s up to the 'armchair' massive. You can only physically do so much promotion yourself, or allocate funds to have someone else do it. You can only book certain DJ's a selective time preiods; too regular an appearance and clubbers moan. If you don't, or can't book the DJ's enough; people become selective or moan. Basically it's a lot of moaning.
Exactly - it's much better monthly. I used to go most weeks but it got annoying when there was noone else there. It's more enjoyable now
I always thought the gradual downturn in the industry was due to the ever popular Arena gig's and the effect they had on peoples tastes - Making alot of people very picky about what events they went to, turning noses up at anyone other than AVB, Tiesto and PVD headlining any event etc etc. This in turn turned the average joe clubber (no pun intended joe ) into someone who would rather go to an arena gig every 2 months for the "big names" than turn up on a gamble at their local venue. Of course, im neither a Promoter or a DJ so thats just an observation from what ive picked up from the "zeitgeist"...
The monthly thing seems to have been quite successful. although some people miss it being weekly,it is better than the night going bust which looked quite likely from some of the nights at the start of the year
this is exactly what happened to me, I wont go unless there are 3 super stars on the rosta. music changes - trance is becoming dated.
people like that are fools!! clubs, particuarly trance clubs, have just become less popular over the last few years, everyone likes funkyhouse now If it went back to going weekly it would most likely be the same as it was at the start of the year - hardly one there; atmosphere is the most important thing to me (although some techno &prog would help ) so i say leave once amonth-this way we also get other stuff on fridays ie dave clarke
Atmosphere in a club is definetly more important to me these days than how many superstar DJs are on. I'd much rather see a good, underground DJ with a pumping atmosphere than a superstar DJ where it feels a bit flat
Yeah i know that the words "what a cunt" where for the fact promise will never go weekly again sorry for the confusion
