    Re: Cancer...

I'm doing the Great North Run this year and all proceeds will be going towards the Princes of Wales Hospice in Glasgow where my mum was before she died in 1999.

Plus it's a great reason to get myself fit and change my beer barrel into a healthy six pack..... well you never know!

Cancer really has got to be the worst thing ever, simply cos it can happen to anyone ant any time, does anyone know what actually CAUSES it?? Ive always wondered about that, cos so many people get it, but what actually causes it? (apart from smoking obviously), but other cancers like testicular/breast cancer etc, surely there must be something that causes it, and things that can be done to prevent it?

As far as I know it's just when a cell multiplies far too many times (cell's normally multiply as part of the growth of the human body but Cancer is when they carry on multiplying and so developing into a tumor). I don't think it's actually something that CAUSES this to happen, it's just a mutation that naturally occurs in some people, unfortunately.

I've just got a letter from Cancer Research UK today asking me to up my donation from £2 a month to £4 a month...but I ticked the £5 a month. All I thought was "That's about how much I pay for a Burger King meal, so I'll just go to Burger King one less time a month!" Apparantly they're doing an experiment into whether Aspirin can cure Bowel Cancer (the 2nd most common type of Cancer in the UK).....results in 2005
