No, i mean that it doesnt matter what he is selling, the media get a story out of it and portray him to the world as pond-life.

Just read the quote from the Judge again.

    "
He was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment suspended for two years and ordered to pay costs by Judge David Wood, who said Regan's character, work record and the one-off nature of his offending meant he was able to avoid jail.

But he told him: "You have a glowing set of references which show you are generally a hard-working, sensible young man with many abilities and a supportive family, friends and partner.

"Why you would jeopardise all that by selling ecstasy in a nightclub, I really don't know."

    "

The Judge is only doing his job.

Its our laws that are wrong.

I definately agree classifications are wrong... you can't lump ecstasy with heroin, no matter how many worried parents demand it... they are different drugs on many levels, social, financial etc... our generation is generally more 'switched on' about drugs (although threre are stupid extremes) so I hope in the long run we can change some of the outdated rules and regulations.

If you dont punish the dealers then who do you punish? The laws should vary dependant on what they catch you with. Less than 10 and its the thin line between a personal supply, and a deal-able amount.

I can understand the appeal of why people do what they do, and its lucky this lad didnt get sent down, but its a good warning to people who might also act so carefree (as opposed to being discrete about doing what they do) when it comes to serious stuff like this.

Class C laws are quite good i think - going after the dealers instead of punishing the users.

    all IMHO of course :)
