Disco Noir last night! What did everyone think? I had a wicked night, canny crowd & proper techno! Roll on Jeff Mills!
Funk D'void were exceptional. Slam upped the tempo when they came on, but unfortunately i cant remember much after about 15 mins into their set. So im not best placed to comment, but they were certainly sounding good. Next thing i remember im sat in the corner seats, and DJPaul comes over and says were off to Mad Chrises. That was about 315. Best not get so trashed next time!
fucking awesome. Too many beer boys towards the start, but when slam pushed it to the 140 bpm's they quickly dispersed
they'll be away much quicker when Mills drops in hope u all had a top one, know I certainly did - the lads gave some sweet new promo's too
Disco Noir was excellent, and I don't even like techno that much. Your set was good Simon, as much proggy as techno I would have set (but what do I know), Funk D'void were class, Slam were excellent too but got bit too hard for my liking twds the end. Didn't hear any Chems though
I was very impressed with how hard things got towards the end, techno is very rapidly growing on me. Wasn't it mean to finish at 3 tho? I was well fcuking knackered by half 3! And there were like 15 ppl behind the decks by the end!! What were the two dudes to the left of the DJ's doing? I got the impression that they were VJ's but they had FA going on the screen! Just the same Disco Noir/ Soma records loop over and over.
suppose it was a little bit in parts (the francois k remix of kraftwerk maybe?), couldn't really take it too full on though as it wouldn't have worked with Lars coming on straight after. Really liked what he played like as he appears to have fairly similar tastes to me. loved it when Stuart started pitching up later on to sort out the big lads from the wannabes! will try and play the chems re-edit I've been working on at the next one for ya mate! will hopefully have the Noir CD ready by then too
Funk D'Void were class. Slam was a let down. Bit pissed off they didn't open upstairs. Was a good night in all tho'. :secret: Scot Nicholson upstairs next month...
Couldnt believe i found a mars bar in me pocket like jon! Simon yer set was wicked mate, ive still got that tune i liked noted in me phone. As for Funk D'Void, Top bloke, amazing set (i thought it was better than slams) so chunky, funky techno...absolute blinder in my ears! Then Slam did seem to start off a bit more mellow to build it back up again, was a bit bored by their start, altho the last hour and a half when they upped the tempo and played tracks like Cave- street Carnival, that new christian smith and john selway track and almost at the end Agoria - La Onzieme Marche (Phil kieran mix) they seemed to rock ..oh and by the end i think the speakers had enough...they sounded really distorted (were they redlining the mixer again simon??).
fuck knows mate, my head was somewhere else by that stage - though they do have a tendency to push systems to the limit. how nice was lars though? top set too, a fan of james holden's border community label which gets a gold star in my humble little book met Scott briefly for the first time too on Friday, looking forward to his set next month!
From what I heard of Simon Stuart it was all good, then Funk D'Void was quality, really enjoyed his set. Slam, however, the less the said the better. I was totally disappointed. Three hours of beasty beats but no music, the most boring three hours I've ever spent in foundation. Not my cup of tea at all and i like techno. Roll on Jeff Mills indeed!!! And if the back rooms not open I won't be happy. Scott Nicolson is a quality dj (MR. Soft) and I won't be pleased if he doesn't get a chance, same as I thought about Daly not getting to play on Friday (I understand why though.)
the FK mix of Moloko? believe me mate, be prepared to get in up to your waist if you're digging for Francois Kevorkian stuff. the guys a legendary producer - right across the board - though Depeche Mode's Violator could be an interesting way in...
