    Questions about Insurance!!

I had an minor accident last Sunday. Basically I reversed into someone, who was also reversing out of a parking place. At the time I just took it as being my falut, but when I got home, I got thinking and surely it's both of our faults because we were both reversing.

At the end of the day, is it worth me disputing it?? It's going to cost over £635 for his car to be fixed, which I cannot believe. So it's going to have to go on the insurance. He's has said that the brackets have came away from the bumper, which I also cannot believe, as I couldn't off been going over 5 mph! I think I may lose the case, but what happens if you dispute something, does it affect you either way?? Obviously I have the chance of winning it, but will it affetc me more, in anyway, if I lose??

    :(

dont admitt anything. say it want your fault. unless they have loads of independant witnesses, they cant prove it.

i went into the side of someone at 40mph on a big roundabout and totally fukked his car. :p

i stuck to my story, and said that he pulled out at the wrong time. And even though it shouild have been me who took thet blame, i didnt, as there were no witnesses. Just pick a story, and stick to it. say it wasnt your fault.

I fhe says it's your fault, the insurance will only pay if he can prove it's your fault, and then prove that the bill is £600.

If its in a privately owned car park then the entire thing will be void on the basis that its private land. Otherwise fill in the claim form 'carefully' and you'll get off it. Private car parks include those owned by supermarkets / libraries / I think even the council in some cases!

I smashed into someone, causing £11,000 worth of damage (no-one was hurt), there were two independant witnesses and the bill was still split 70/30 to him, despite it being obviously my fault.

If you've got legal cover on your insurance then your insurance company can take it to court to prove liability either way. You'd be best off asking them for advice.

It's the insurance companys investigators that decide who's fault it was, based on their investigations and from liasing with the other persons insurance company.

If you do it through your insurance and its noted as 50/50 or your fault then you will be penalised. But the cost of the claim has nothing to do with the penalty on your premium. You may lose some NCB and your premium will be subject to a loading which is a set % depending on how many claimsyou've had in the past.

Speak to your insurance company to find out everything you want to know and how to take things further if you choose to. They'll do the fighting for you. They probably wouldnt give you any figures as to how much your premium may be affected but they will be able to advise you what happens to you NCB if the claim does go against you :D
