Tell me why I'm getting less for the pound when I travel in Europe these days than I did say 1999 when the Euro was first commisioned.

And your worry about the pound losing strength is?

Not to mention, it is at a long term high vs the dollar at the minute..

New labour are also for the most part shit. However, I would prefer "shit" to " absolutely fucking wank", as we would surely have under CONservative leadership.

When I said the UK I didn't mean the people, land, and culture - I meant the political situation and the direction that the country is going in. Also the prevailing attitudes of a significant number of its inhabitants.

we can change the goverment though - seems a bit reactionary to hand it all over to brussels.

im looking at europe at the moment in respects my dissertation and from what i can see, we could do with a LOT of the policies other countries are using in respect transport initiatives and policy regarding sustainable futures... to say we are behind is an understatement..

the UK is too stubborn in many respects and really needs to get its act together...

We're a leading industrial country, on a par with Germany, France, Denmark, Holland, Sweden, Norway etc, not Greece!

I've been to all these countries, tbh they all look better off, have better schools, hospitals, public transport, better working conditions, cleaner cities than most places in the UK I've been to.

The Euro is doing better than the pound against all major currencies these days

this isnt your average 'what students read in books' though.. im studying whats been done and whats happening now.. its there to see in countless cities across western europe...

maybe i should have phrased that as - countries with similar economies in europe.. which would exclude portugal and greece amongst others..

ive been to nearly all the countries in the EU barring scandinavian ones and have extensivley travelled the united states so id say i have a fair idea of how our transport system compares to other countries...

agree with that about the euro.... 1st few years I thought it was gonna sink!

You're also right that our economy is doing miles better than not just Europe but virtually anywhere else in the world.

Round of applause to the Labour government :D
