    :D

I like that... now this pisses me off a lot more than bogus asylum cases... sponging pikies are possibly the biggest hindrence in this country.

    Castration anyone?

I don't understand what your suggesting?

Are you suggesting asylum seekers should be placed in affluent areas where they have no chance of finding work?

    agreed :D

The fact that they were born on the same bit of rock as me makes no difference in the slightest :D I'd have the same concerns for a random person from Birmingham as a random person from Bombay

Agree! Surely anyone whose country is in crisis should be accepted. If they don't attempt to make something of themselves then boot them out.

The only arguement I can think of against asylum seekers is that when they get jobs the national income increases - with that, demand then prices for commodities increase (including houses) - with that I'm living at my mothers for another couple of years until we have a recession - but above all of that, this isn't an arguement that outweighs someone's life. Who cares if I'm expected to pay extra for something. I'd rather live at my mothers and let those torn apart by war want the same wants as me. If it means I've got competition in the housing market, so be it!

No, but what is the alternative? House them in poorer areas where they are far more likely to be subject to racism and fall into crime. We can't continue to place them in these areas because it is causing more problems, it happens where I live and now many of the kids are growing up with a distrust of the refugees being housed in the area. But where else can they go? I'm sure other problems would arise in affluent areas.

I'm not disputing that we have a right to help asylum seekers, but so much of the process of housing and integrating them seem to have negative conotations.

the negative conotations span all classes, education is the only way to combat the problem.

What really gets under my skin is that the right wing always come up with the argument that asylum seekers are a drain of our welfare state. Yet go down to your nearest metro station and you'll find a bunch of charvers drinking their white lightning or whatever, paid for by their dole money, paid by the Government and paid our taxes. Why cant we send them out of the country? After all id much rather have asylum seekers who have witnessed their families being murdered raped or abused taking my tax money to live in Britain and appreciate what the welfare state is doing for them and eventually being able to get employment in which case they'd be able to survive on their income with little or no assisance, than being told by some stinky wee charver that their "gonna stab ye ya ****" unless i give them a fiver for their bus fare. (Judging by most charvers we must have the most expensive busses in Britain).

Also, although not the same as asylum, immigrant workers play an important role in Britain today. recently i broke my thumb, when i went to hospital i was firstly seen by a Australian doctor and when i returned last week i was seen by a North African doctor, if Britain had closed the borders i would still be in extreme pain as i wait on an enormous waiting to be seen by a Brittish doctor.

At the end of the day we're all immigrants, so nobody can truely complain about people fleeing poor countries to come here. Our ancestors done the same so give them a break
