    North-south divide widens

    The enduring north-south divide is widening as Northerners remain poorer, less educated and more likely to suffer from chronic illnesses, according to a study.

    The North is also suffering a brain drain as unprecedented numbers of skilled young people head towards the capital.

    Our conclusion is that the country is being split in half," said Daniel Dorling, Professor of Human Geography at Sheffield University and author of the report.

    Aye the north south Divide

    Apparently Wallsend to North shields / percy main etc. on the metro is rough as and after that down to Whitley is posh

    expecting all the hadrian park lads and battle hill mob to now beat me up

    I iz originally from the west end (the best end)

    Didn't some Asian gang r ape some young lass in broad daylight @ weekend on the west rd, the locals did nowt because its run of mill up that 'end'

    The westend makes Baghdad seem a cool place to hang out.

    then they asked me to come back and do a 12 min take for the bbc news at 6 on the north south - divide saying how sad i would be if i had to leave newcastle.. and how its got a 'really good nightlife' :laugh:

    done radio one, radio five, news 24 and live on breakfast news...

    Sad but true - I love the north east, but the government needs to bloody well do something about balancing investment so the northern towns can have more than just workhouses and call centres.

    And dont misinterpret that - I LOVE MY HOME TOWN, its just a damn shame so many people are just forced away. :(

    The west end we on about officially doesnt include west beirut
    I iz on about westerhope and chapel park etc
    defo better than battle hill (the name sez it al)
