    Pathetic.

They should sort out real problems..

Let's all send them extremely strong worded letters.

Legal action is being taken against three firms suspected of blitzing Tyneside with flyposters.

Gateshead Council has started proceedings against Newcastle-based Shindig Events Ltd, The Foundation nightclub and Genre UK.

Over the summer environmental health officers have been removing posters from traffic lights, lamp-posts and junction boxes in the borough.

Now they plan to take the three organisations to court, alleging 50 offences.

A council spokesman said: "We are taking a tough line against illegal fly-posting, which has helped to reduce it over the months. But it was quite a problem with most of the main road junctions in Gateshead bedecked on a regular basis.

"We're talking about main traffic light junctions, roundabouts, the Felling bypass, the A167 over the Tyne Bridge, Askew Road and most of the highways in the borough.

"This is about road safety. These are complex road junctions where motorists really have to pay attention to what they're doing."

The council will be submitting legal papers to magistrates next month and will be hoping for court dates in the early autumn.

The council's planning and development committee has delegated the power to authorise prosecutions against fly-posters to the head of regulatory services for six months.

This dispenses with the need to bring each case before it for approval and speeds up the process.

Paul Dowling, head of regulatory services, added: "The drop in illegal fly-posting around the town is noticeable. It's not disappeared entirely but it has substantially reduced." David Stone, of Foundation Nightclub, said: "Since becoming promotions manager in early June I have had no communication from Gateshead Council regarding a flyposting problem and was unaware such activity was taking place.

"I have requested an urgent meeting with Gateshead Council to discuss this issue.

"Foundation is a responsible operator and is fully committed to supporting local authority regulations."

if your just sticking up poster boards you should be ok as long as no pigs trot past while in mid clip.

do it at about 1930 and have mates standing on approaching street corners to keep a eye out.

i dont buy the councils distracting drivers excuse but i do agree that the actual plasted posters make the place look shabby.

fly posting is illegal and im sure they were aware of it at the time of doing it. From previous experience, i am well aware that the police probably knew they were doing it at the time.
