Santa Is Not Banned Contrary to the reports in the media, Santa’s Grotto is not banned from Bullring in order to “be sensitive to people of other religions”._ Rather than have its own Grotto this year, Bullring, along with other city centre retailers, is supporting Birmingham City Council’s Grotto in Centenary Square._ This will provide a magical Christmas experience for all Birmingham shoppers. _ Santa is certainly not banned from Bullring._ He will be appearing at Debenhams from 12 November and at Selfridges every weekend from 27 November, with Selfridges also hosting three Santa parties on 21, 22 and 23 December.
I remember when they stopped calling it Christmas in Brum City Centre - they call it Winterfest or summinck now
We had to ask permission to put up Christmas decorations because of sensitivity to other religions. Those in power took the pragmatic approach of saying that it's part of our culture & why shouldn't we?
