well....it's social poetry - what's rap if it's not just some guys talking over phat beats? It's genius because it's accurate social commentary that makes you think - plus Mike Skinner made the whole album in his bedroom for a tenner using two cardboard toilet tubes and a speak-n-spell! try listening to 'has it come to this' or 'the irony of it all' whilst off your tits and you'll see the big picture
it's clever stuff - and to say he did the whole first album in his bedroom shows he's got some talent... but social poet? how poncey is that! one trick pony maybe.... First album was like nothing else out there - 2nd wasn't as good... although - just because he didn't evole/re-invent himself for the 2nd, doesn't retract from his style. 'cry your eyes' will be one of those classic heart break songs in my opinion... rings true with anyone....
Neither is knocking together the latest trance belter on a computer, or mixing a load of records together, if you look at it from that perspective
i prefer :chill: to appreciate most things - but that doesn't mean it could be crap, because it makes you realise equally well how crap things are
you can talk. could you make that album? i doubt it...Its more than just words too. cant you hear the music?
i really like it, it gets hammered by me at work (now in fact) you have to listen to it the whole way through, it aint an album u put on to listen to a track, u listen to it all.
lol the cry your eyes tune 'happened' to me wen i was 15. the blinded by the lights tune 'hapenned' a few years ago, just the way hes tells the story and i can kinda relate to wot hes bangin on about
Like both the Albums. Can see why people don't like them but if you don't take it too seriously its good. Can relate to the lyrics far more than with hip hop tunes
i dont like it because it boils my piss, i feel like throwing the radio thru the wall whenever i hear anything by them, simple as mate
To be fair he does look like a charver in the Dry you Eyes video with his Lacoste jumper and pit bull
