no, its not just that. but as soon as sum1 'black' comes on telly, he all, shut up man and all this crap. im not really into hip hop, or rap, but i do like some songs. even if ther is a gud tune by a 'black' person he wnt like it, coz the person is 'black'. (if that makes any sense at all)

my dad is a proper racst, but he works in the falklands and i hardly see him.
it is said that girls go for a person who reminds them of theie fathers, anything my dad is like i go for the total oposite. i can remember even when i was little challenging him over his racism. i am totally anti-racist, any hint of racism and i hate it. i dont really like my dad much

If you consider yourself to be a lefty or righty when it comes to issues such as asylum seekers and immigration? LEFT - but right on other issues ;)

Your parents/guardians (main bread winner) level of education? DAD - military trained, MUM - Not too sure... defo finished school

Were/are your parents (main bread winner) in careers that require a degree? DAD - retired, MUM - she is a registrar of births deaths and marriages, think ya need decent qualifications for that...

Did you parents/guardians own the house you grew up in? YES

But where I grew up there were no asians or blacks, well as close to none as made no odds (One black girl in my whole year until I was 11). So should that not make me an uber racist?

I grew up with the same. I know people who grew up around asian communities and hate them. I sympathise but in the end its not simply a race issue, its more a pikey one. Just cos their asian doesnt mean they cant be pikies, and we all know what shit pikies cause. You get good and bad in every community... social factors play a large part I feel.

If your a knob your a knob, regardless of anything else.

Re: How easy is it to profile racists?

If you consider yourself to be a lefty or righty when it comes to issues such as asylum seekers and immigration? - Neither. There are certain issues i don't agree with as far as the immigration situation but race, colour or creed means nohing to me, its the individul. Certain cultures have different moral standards and beliefs which can cause prblems and tension however as far as i'm concerned, if ya not hurting any1 else, each to their own .

Your parents/guardians (main bread winner) level of education?
Father served in RAF after school then worked in computing til retirement aged 64. Mother educated at private school.

Were/are your parents (main bread winner) in careers that require a degree?
    No.

Did you parents/guardians own the house you grew up in?
    Yes.

I know where you're comin from rob with background having an influence on an individual's racial views but that is verging on the lines of what prince charles said a few weeks ago. "This individual is from working class therefore they are more likely to be thick (racist)."
I come from a working class background but my parents always had the desire to provide a better life for themselves and for me. However my dad was 70 when he died, and was known to crack what would be thought of as racist jokes/comments now and then. But again that was all to do with his generation, his upbringing, and he never meant any malice.

Does having right wing views on asylum seekers and immigration automatically mean you are racist? I would argue that it doesn't necessarily, though the two will often be linked.

For the record, I am probably to the left of centre on these issues. My father has a degree and we have always owned our own house.

Nah, I would totally agree, just using language that should provoke thought/debate.

it has bollocks all to do with education, wealth, location, exposure, etc.

Its an influence thing, influence can be found anywhere from parents too education... Trying to pin point what makes a person racist is like trying to pin point how ones sense of humour develops... its impossible.

possibly the stupidest and most ignorant thread in the existance of the board.
