It's a public holiday, they can't make you. You can refuse.

*edit - looking into this as not 100% certain now - will try to speak to someone at work today to find out...*

Think of the £££'s though if you do work, might be woth missing the indigestion and Queen's speech...! ;)

    That sucks!

The only way to get round the dissapointment is to think of the £..
I woulda thought that they woulda give u some allowences though.. baring inmind your a parent.. and your child is only young!

Curiously... is ya boss workin the same sorta hours?

I h8 bosses that simply don't care bout the staff @ all.. I've worked for one and I just walked outta the job..

While we're on the subject.. my gf is workin the 26th 4pm - 8.30pm (and its her bday) and she is workin nyd 5pm - 9pm. Poor lass.. :(

I however am off from the 23rd till the 3rd.. :D

not if it's in your contract you've signed unfortunately...

it's just another day at the end of the day - u can get up early with the baby and have fun on the night time - just think about the extra cash

Yeah, that's what got me thinking.

I think it may have to be an expressed term either way, stating if you're obliged to work or not. If it isn't mentioned, I think it is implied but it can work the other way too if informal custom has been built up over the years...

I'll have an ask around @ work today though, see if I can get the definitive answer. :)
