People ill edjucated on the subject will go away thinking 'eh? what?', and then just decide that drugs are bas, as usual.

i thought the man that was the director of some pro drug company was talking muchos muchos sense - like about if they were legalised, then money would not be going to the hands of criminals, and if it was government controlled, would be safer, tested, have the ingredients listed as opposed to the money scamming people who produce the drug not giving a shit about your health.

crime rates would probably be down by a third, which is due to the fact that heroin addicts habits' are expensive (as it is illegal) because of the need to steal to fund it. (i dont think that makes sense, but hey, its late)

the economy would save billions of pounds per year as there would be no need for all the legal fees that are associated with people who are simply making a decision about what they do to thier body. This money they would save by making drugs safer and obtainable could be ploughed back into the country to fund the nhs, schools, police (who could put thier time into catching real criminals)

fair do's this could make some small minded mis informed people anxious about the future, but for those who embrace and end to prohibition, a relieving prospect.

loved the program, i found myself agreeing with most of the pro-drugs things that were said, even though i dont take drugs myself that often (im assuming we can include tabs drink and coffee here) i think it could be a step in the right direction for the country as a whole. Maybe not the whole lot at once like - imagine the parties!!!

If they did make drugs legal though they would probably become more and more expensive because of the tax they would whack on top

    Of course.

In the Dam you can buy cheaper illegal weed than legal weed.

They are trying to make smoking illegal so why BAN smoking and then ALLOW Heroin.

    Its not going to happen.

Id rather my dealers drug money was spent on purple suits, hookers and more yet more drugs THAN to pay for the Goverments illegal war or speed camera etc.

    Totally agree with you there...

...even if drugs did become legal there would still be a black market for them because of the raise in price therfore most people would still be buying them illegally and they wouldn't be any more safe than they are now anyway

If I was rich id be stock piling tabs now.

In ten years time when smoking is illegal you will be able to get good money for a packet of menthol ;)

Maybe not, but those who make a lot of money from it now would no doubt find something else illegal to make huge amounts of money from. Extortion anyone, or maybe a bit of gun running?

The crimes it would help to stop would be the actual taking of drugs etc themselves, and the crime associated with funding habits. Better than nothing I suppose.

Nobody can accurately predict what would happen...

but it would definetely have a bootleg market...

not many people actually go to the shops to buy their tabs these days...maybe the goverment would overprice the drugs but would that force the dealers/illegal manufacturers to ensure there drugs were good quality so that people would still buy them illegally to save a few quid???

    no fucker knows

im not too informed on the ins and outs of the situation, but i always assumed that legalising a drug such as cannabis would lower the price due to large-scale legal importing and cutting out all the price rises of the criminal drug transportation... the government would still tax the drugs but the price would be cheaper than the inflated prices people pay now...

i may be wrong, but thats what i assumed... surely having influence in certain countries would also be a major step for trade...

anyway, legalisation takes out half the fun ;)
