As you fall into both of those categories to some extent, why do you do it?

Having done the promotion side, I wanted to put on the kind of night I wanted to go to, and it is a great feeling watching loads of people having a great night due to your hard work (and the DJ's of course).

i got into it because there is no night up here for the genres i and others enjoy so i created thunda for us monkeys as most would call us on here so i created somethimng i would enjoy and mates would to
so i done it for the pure plesure and seeing other pepole enjoy something i have created and off course there was very talented dj's that play these genres not getting gigs and now have the chance to prove there worth so to spk
also as i make no money and dont dj i think you can tell i do for the pure factor of enjoyment

in answer to BOB, basically there is no where in Newcastle that puts on the kind of parties I want to go to. I could write 4 pages on what I want out of an event but seeing as so many go down the tried and tested route , it dont interest me and especially if I have to adhere to some military style dress code.

So , since no where caters for what I want, I choose to cater for myself. I also really enjoy the social aspect of meeting new people who come to something you have organised.

The last thing in newcastle I truely loved with a passion was Cause and effect at the arts centre and the only other things that have rocked me boat in recent years are VIBE at Foundation in 2001 and more recently Freaky Dancing (although I am not masssively into techno) at the casino club

    RESPECT TO THE HOOVER GROOVER!

    :)

I ended up running Vuzz purely by accident, never planned on being a promoter, but I decided to make the most of it! :p

And no, I don't wanna be a DJ either!

i dont want to be either. I buy records cos i like them, and if i get a chance to play them out, even better. I dont strive to be a famous DJ, and i dont want it to be my job. And i couldnt be arsed to be a promoter.

aye djing is crap really, its more enjoyable in your bedroom rather than having to get the crowd going. Pulling the strings behind the scenes is much more enjoyable.

and the day to stop is when you dont enjoy it any more,no matter how much / little money you are making

but the difference between wanting to be a footballer is that at a certain age they realise that only 1 in so many million is gonna be a premiership footy player whereas most of us will have kids and a semi detahced house in "x"years time and wont be putting on parties any more and one day madders will be dead at the age of 44 probs:wink:

People always say "you should play at your own night." I honestly enjoy giving other people the chance to play even more!

Not many other nights in Newcastle giving people like Dave, Luke, Hutchy, Chris Spence, Graham, Andy B, Che, and loads of other local lads the chance to play alongside the likes of Richard Tulip, Ben Lost, Les Hemstock, Goldenscan, DJ Precision...the list goes on.

It makes me well proud of our local lads and hopefully they will remember us when they go on to super-stardom!!!
