Wot am i guna do ???

Im a student nurse, and supposed to get an NHS bursary (like a grant), of £320 per month. This is what i am supposed to live on !!!! I have just been informed by the Grants Unit that im not goin to receive any more of these payments for the rest of my course (its a long story)! To date ive had no payments since november !!!

My only saving grace is that i qualify in September, but til then ......i either work full time on placement in the hospitals, or am at uni five days per week. I also work 2 niteshfts per week on top of this, which i get paid for, this is just enough to pay my bills !

I have considered writing to the newspapers because the grants unit hav been total arseholes about the whole thing!!! (B***ards)!!!

Any tips from anyone would be much appreciated !!! I

Have you spoken to Student Services or whatever they're called these days, in the Union? They should be able to give you some advice.

Theyve told me to apply for some money from the hardship fund......fillin the application out at the mo !

its a fucking disgrace the way they've treated ellielou, they've just messed her about from day 1.

Same here, but I'd rather pay than work full time in a hospital and get none of the lovely lazy holidays that I get at the minute

As a Sunday People reader I have read that lots of student nurse's make extra cash working in lap danceing clubs. This may help you in the short term. FYEO & Blue Velvet are the places you will need to contact.

Not sure if Tronny will be happy with you doing that sort of gig tho.

I get a loan but only £1200 for the year. I have a house n car to run .
I know but if enough people start complaining to the grants unit something mite get done about their lack of competence!

Believe me.......if i had it id flaunt it !!! I already work on the wards to try n get extra money....its just the fact that i wont hav the time to do this as much when im already workin full time on placment and doin essays !

Sounds like our Social Work course. We get a shit bursary too- the basic rate is £2100 for the year. Whereas the tossers that I live with get £6k for training to be PE teachers!! Cos the country sure needs more of them!!

You can buy a set of guns/breasts on hp nowadays man!!!! Get yourself a set, then bingo off FYEO or BV & watch the cash roll in.

No not a parent, and not over 25. Only get £1200 cos its means tested (cos its an NHS course, not the same as academic courses ) on how much bursary you get......actually i could apply for more now that im not gettin one....ill look into it.
