    Boat retains Licence (For now)

The Tuxedo Princess has been in news recently over the 2 deaths there, and was claimed that they wouldn't get their licence renewed.
It has however been renewed but they've changed various policies.
Gone = £? in & drink as much as you can night.

However with Gateshead council (previously renowned for having the slackest licencing policies around), are getting serious pressure from councillors who are supporting the development of the area (Sage, Hilton, baltic, etc) and are sick of boat dragging area down.

Will be here for at least a year, but times looking tough ahead.

And lets not mention that revolving dancefloor....

Its a dump and needs to be shut down.

In fact the whole town needs a serious cracking down on the yob and beerboy culture ... probably one of the reasons why we lose the culture capital bid.

Nope, but Liverpool doesnt have the reputation Newcastle does.

Nothern towns in general need a shake up in making them safer places to be.

reason lost the capital of culutre bid had nothing to do with binge drinking... it was because newcastle already has the funding and the regenergation in place...

liverpool doesn't, therefore it makes sense to choose liverpool, plough the money in and bring it up to standard with other UK cities...

Are you suggesting im saying London is more cultured and safer than northern towns?

.. if so, i hate london as a city actually, aside from a few clubs. But one thing that the south has very little of, is the culture of swarms of drunken violent yobs which is encouraged in part by places like the tuxedo princess.

It doesnt matter where these places are, they do the cities that they are in NO FAVOURS.

i thought capital of culture was about the 'culture' already in place... as opposed to the culture they hope would be brought in with the funding that gets pushed in that direction after the bid is won?

    suprisingly not....

    culture = regeneration...

its a regenration award - cities wern't bidding for the 'title' they where bidding for investment into their city... would you pour money into a city thats come out of industrial decline and already on its feet, or one that needs a huge amount of investment to get it up to speed with other cities of its status? not too taxing...

You mean towns in Essex are safe & drunk free aye right, what about them big south coast towns always ripe for stag & hens do's like Porstsmouth,Bournemouth,Hastings, Brighton & then you have got Aldershot which is good for a few a drinks & punch up with squaddies. Lets not even go to Bristol which is just a very violent place

No doubt theres plenty of places all over the country which are known for trouble after hours...

... but where are all the 'expose' documentaries set when they do pieces on binge drinking and violence .... ?

    THE NORTH!

Lets face it, we need to clean our act up a little more than other parts of the country.

newcastle is a walk in the park compared to most cities...

i feel safer walking through newcastle on a sat night than i do anywhere else ive lived near and been out in reguarly.

birmingham / wolverhampton / leeds / huddersfield / sheffield wakefield... the only place ive felt safer on a night out is where my parents live now in worcester..

leeds in particular isn't a nice place to end up with no money for a cab at 3am...
