Now I just need some insightful questions to ask, just general ones that aren't 'How much do I get paid and how many hols do I get'.

Any ideas?

Ask about training and development, future promotional prospects, staff turnover (if this is high it's probably not a good place to work).

Basically I ask anything that looks like you are choosing whether to work for them, rather than them choosing you, but without sounding cocky.

yeah that's good because trainee journalists are expected to be put through another qualification after starting full time work..

any more?

jesus, what kind of job interview do you go for?

just re-iterating what B.O.B. said really but in interviews i always enquired about the future of the business, what they expect to be doing over the next 5 -10 years, dropping it in saying you read such and such about the company. anything really to show you want to work for them, and that you don't just want a job with whoever will give you one. also what advancement opportunities are likely to be coming your way etc..

if all that fails though, just show a bit of leg.

The height of these heels I'll probably fall over and show a lot more!

i've got 2 months off at the moment until i start in chambers down in london, then i get a crap wig all of my own. i was supposed to be going travelling but the day i was scheduled to fly out to bolivia, it was on the verge of civil war so i've canned that idea for now!

will be a good few years before i get a lead counsel case like you see at crown though. i've got years of filing for reposessions and other well dull stuff to look forward to for the time being.

you do realise i will be tourturing you for inside info and quotes in a tabloid stylee?!

i'll make sure you get a tip from an 'anonymous source' if any big scandals brew at our chambers whilst i'm down in london.
