Milan Has anyone been? What's it like? Can get flights for £22 so looking for a little break just staying in a hostel or something what sights are recommended?
me, spence and geordie are doing the same thing in october, was the same price, booked flights but havent booked anywhere to stay yet. not too sure what its like to be honest, ment to be a bit pricey, but at £22 for flights u cant complain
I've jsut been looking at hostels but they're just as expensive as hotels tbh cheapest I've found is £175 for 2 people but it's not in the centre.
i've only had a quick look, but the cheapest places seemed to be just out of milan. how long is that £175 one for?
That's for 5 days in a twin room in the Hotel Lido, says it's positioned next to the San Siro and is in a zone outside the city centre but close to a train station.
Gonna be a total crease when we go, well looking forward to it As said you cant go wrong for what you pay etc, saved money already there and ill still have enough Apparently the Armani shop is about the size of Fenwicks - me mam said off when she went then a few lads at work went when NUFC played Inter. Just a shame that i havent worn owt like that for about 4yrs
james went for the inter match, said it wood good. He spent most of the day playing Playstation in the armani shop..
Good for shopping and the catheral and gardens are nice - but not the most exciting place iv'e been to but i was only there for 3 days but id say it was worth going to
i wrote this on some other board a few months back, might be of some use Stayed in hotel near near central station, easy to find, was 50 euros a night for double room. Went to lake como for the first day. Lovely. Got a ferry round the lake stopping off at a few random villages to walk around. Find the little restaurants the italians go to cos theyre better, rather than the tourist ones. Went to a few bars on friday evening in milan centre, just a little way south of the duomo. Didnt seem to be much of a bar or club scene though. Wine is cheap enough. Metro stopped running about 11.30 at night, but taxi's arent very much. On saturday we had the lonely planet guide to milan, so we did a kind of makeshift historic tour of the city centre. Duomo, roof, a few galleries, some other nice houses, the scala (opera house), the shopping centre kind of thing in between the scala and the duomo, the castle with fountains in front, and then we sat in the park next to the castle for a while (parco sempione). Is worth getting a map of milan to find places, but you can get used to the layout pretty quick. Also walked round the golden quad of fashion streets with all the prada's gucci's moschino's etc. Had enough of looking at the prices though. Had swordfish spaghetti, and wild boar in the evening. Visit a gelateria, the ice cream is lovely. Went to bergamo on the sunday, towards the mountains, historic old city with some cable car thing up through the city walls and another duomo to look at and castle and local shops. We kinda ran out of time here, but you could probably spend a few hours there. We (my gf and i) had a lovely time all in all. I'm 23 in case u get the impression im old from all that shit we did
Went for the Toon Game there 2 year ago wasnt impressed at all expensive and dirty more Smog than Boro
its an awsome city but after 3 days i wanted the fresh air!! Make sure you go to the countryside. try the ibis hotel.
