And just to explain why i give A FUCK even tho i dont have to

When you see adverts about starving familys and young children dieing with flys around them.
i just think that could have been my daughter,
and anyone that makes money from charitable organisations are starving those kids further.
If you dont care or think im wrong in my views TOUGH its my opinion

Bono bangs on about world debt but he was quite happy to charge £85 for people to go see U2. Whats that all about? :spangled:

people talking bollocks in this thread like, have you heard of "The News" ?

    1) eBay were in no way being hypocrites - what they said is valid.
"selling whatever you want" isnt the case, its the fact that its LEGAL which is why eBay didnt step in. I fail to see how their statement is even remotely amusing or even the slightest bit hypocritical. They have since withdrawn the sale of tickets becuase of pressure forced on by the hippies.

    2) The reason they were 10m was because Geldof and his tree hugging mates all bid up to that amount to stop people buying them....as if ebay are gona pay one MILLION pounds (10%) per ticket sold to charity!! Thats gota be the daftest thing ive heard all week

    3) How are you scum by selling the tickets? Some guy sold his for 900 quid. If that was me, I wouldnt give a TOSS if a few people that i dont know/care about called me scum....I highly doubt anybody on here would turn down 900 quid.

    Thats about it reall

The moral of the story....GET YA FACTS REET

I take it this was aimed at me?? Well what part of
isnt hypocritical, when coming from them?? They chose what we can and cant sell but when it suits them, they change their mind. They have taken other free items from their site cos they didnt agree with it. Do you think ebay gives a fuck about what Live 8 stands for?? No, they just wana look good by advertising the fact they will be donating.

Im not saying I dont agree with you being able to sell them, but Ebay talk shit and it hit them in the face this time

    £85 tho:eek:
Plus all the merchandise was ridiculously over priced. I guess that's the same at any big gig.... but you can't really then stand up and harp on about world debt etc and expect people to take you seriously. Maybe if U2 were planning on donating a percentage of their tour profits to charity, but as far as I know they're not.
I'm hugely cynical about this Live8 malarky. Is a huge pop concert going to make one bit of difference to the way the world is?! I really doubt it

    Rant over:chill:

Bono & Geldof are two of the most self gratifying celebrities in the media - they act like disciples of Christ. Geldofs career has been completely built on the publicity surrounding the African famines.

What % of his earnings compared to an average working class earning has he donated? Have you heard his kids speak - no scrimping with education there.

If I want to give to charity I don't need Bob Geldof, Bono, Billy Connelly or Chris Martins hand to tell me.

U2 sent Radio1 (Moyles show) only 2 guest tickets - how tight after all the air play & promotions.

Well wasn't really aimed at a dig at you no, I was just disagreeing with your point :p

Like I said they changed their mind in this case becuase they were getting shit loads of grief about it. I don't regard that as being hypocrites. And usually, what we can and can't sell are legal & illegal items respectively.

I've not really head of anything this major surrounding eBay before really. I've head of plenty of free party tickets (eg. One Big Weekend) going up on there and people making quite a return on them.

I just generally don't get what all the fuss is about.
