Heaton floods?

    Heaton floods?

    Is it true Chilly Road was flooded and closed today??!?! was it rain or a burst pipe??

    I was in town till about 730 with my mate who live on Chilly road, she was meant to get picked up from there but no cars could go anywhere due to the floods... except the ones that were floating down the street on their own :laugh:

    I shouldn't laugh i was stuck on a metro for an hour and a half cause of it:mad:

    Yesterday was the first day Id seen a drain sparaying water up to a foot high!

    i live on heaton park road, and at about 7pm last night, the road was like a river the rain was that bad

    so amusing watching people getting caught in the rain:D

    I drove through Heaton last night, Chillingham Road was closed from Meldon Terrace down towards The Chillingham Arms. It looked pretty bad, think some ground floor flats were probably flooded.

    some kerazeee students had wave boards out..

    then the chavs came out and brought there inflatable 3-piece from the living room.. :lol:

    Somehow I managed to miss all this, we drove down CHilli Road at about 7 and managed it fine drove back along at about 11 and still fine didn't see anything different!!

    It was closed by 7.30, for about an hour or so I think. The drains had just totally backed up and water was coming up through them, rather than going down!

    My dad lives round the corner from Walkergate metro and it took him over hour to get home cos of the flooding

    God, Ive just watched that video :eek: Blimey, that was close for them! How did their car get there tho? Did they try to drive thru it??? :spangled:

    Rach did you see Albany on the local news? Them new houses that Council have built they were flooded to the door handles! it was unreal!

    I was driving thru it :eek: The drains had burst and were gushing more water upwards. Those houses are nice too :(

    They had the fire engines there pumping out the water till this morning- All them ppl that have just moved in them houses they would be gutted just been decorated and that! :mad:

    My mate lives near you and he had to lift the manholes to get the water away from the front doors...what a night mare!

    It wasnt that bad down by mine but I think we must live on a hill :confused: I didnt realise how bad it was till later!

    I cant believe I was driving in it!! :eek: Could have been nasty. A full motorway of cars just stopped. Couldnt see the roads, the grass verge anything thru the windscreen or for puddles! Did the last 10mile home at 25 mph. :( At one point, I thought the hailstones were gonna crack my window! I was paniced cos cant afford a new one atm!! :lol:

    Me and the boy were driving that way and turned back when we got to that bridge

    We nearly got stuck on the coast road when the van started to stall...almost had to climb on top of the Wills building to avoid the waters :wink:
