This doesnt mean that they have lost 1 out of 5 of the packages. It means that when the rights come up for renewal next, instead of it being 1 blanket purchase of all the live games (as Sky have had for the past 10+ years), it will be 5 smaller packages being up for tender. So in theory sky could end up with anything from 0 to 4 packages.

Any broadcaster could have live games, up to a maximum of the 4 packages, as at least 2 broadcasters must be able to show live matches. This is all done to please the EUand there not be a monopoly on the coverage

Sky will still get 4 of the packages as they have by far the greatest buying power. I knew all that, just couldn't be arsed to right it all, thanks Ed:love: :p

    :)

They probably will, unless NTL can get its house in order, especially with regard to the current takeover. If they do they could seriously challenge Sky for the rights

I don't think its gona make that much difference to be honest, all thats gonna happen is sky get the first 4 packages and someone else gets the last one.....and i agree bbc and itv are shite.

i thnk they should bring back bug ron, fuckin legend, cant fault sky for sport, they r the kings of it, like channel 4 r kings of cricket, i refuse to watch cricket on sky cos the coverage is shite

think alan hansen is good, dont like mark laurensen, itv is ok for coverage although they have some cunts on there

andy gray defines premiership football on tv imo, if u didnt have his anaylsis after every goal in that excietd scottish voice then it just wpouldnt be the same!
