If anyone is ever unsure about whether emails from ebay/paypal are real or not, send them to: spoof@ebay.co.uk or spoof@paypal.com Always look at the actual web address too, thats sometimes a give away too.
This is also useful to anyone who isn't sure about an email they get... Most of the ebay "phishing" scams that are active at the moment are run by the Russian Mafia (we've been doing research into these at uni). Telltale signs to look for in a fraudulent e-mail: 1) Any request for you to sign in to ebay/paypal 2) Any Spelling mistakes 3) Any links prompting you to Click Here, if in doubt move the mouse over the link and see what address comes up in the bottom left corner of your browser's status bar. If it doesn't start "http://www.ebay.com" or "http://www.ebay.co.uk" it's not genuine. Don't look at the link text, it can be easily changed to make it look genuine. For example it could say www.hotmail.com (but if you hover over that link it's linked to a completely different site ) Even if you believe it to be genuine don't follow the links in the mail. Open up a new window and type in www.ebay.com or www.ebay.co.uk to make sure you're not being re-directed to another site
