munich (the film) i fancy going to see this, looks like a good film based on what happened to 11 israeli athletes at the german olympics in 1972. this anyone elses type of film?
This looks really really good! We are going to see it. It has the babe from Troy in it too Love his voice! Whens it out, do you know Lee?
Went to the preview last thursday, good film but drags in the middle a bit, eric bana is good as always.... Worth a watch
really really looking forward to seeing this when its out wanna see Syriana as well- the oil industry film with george clooney and matt damon
This film has brought up a few good points - the difference between modern history movies and earlier history movies. Israeli's and palestinians are all up in arms about it saying "it doesn't portray them in a good light, they want ii banned, yada yada yada" but yet people don't mind a good old WWII film with the nazi's getting what for from the allies Some people/groups/races seem to always take offence to whatever anyone is trying or talking about modern conflicts... it's almost like it's taboo
bollocks. the difference being hitler was unquestionably evil and the events are in the past.... the palestine/israel crisis is current and there is no clear bad guy.
so why is there so much controversy over it? apparently it gives no answers and doesn't promote either side
I havent seen it so cant comment. but making a film on such a sensitive issue is bound to result in complaints... Its not like its the jews and arabs - an unbiased 9/11 film would end in complaints, as would a film that explored the mind of paedophile, etc.
kevin bacon in 'the woodsman'. the film recieved much critical acclaim (sundance etc..) and I don't recall anyone being outraged by it being made. difficult situations can be explored via films when done with sensitivity and understanding.
lol there has been huge opposition to both films you mentioned in america. The media is the most powerful tool for influencing a population, movies are a part of the machine, some subjects should be tip toed around.
I havent seen the film so can't comment. But I'd be amazed if this documented the activities of a paedophile and his mindset while commiting these acts... its not done like that... they'll film the aftermath or a lolita... but no audience would watch a film about child molestation through a paedophiles eyes... it would sicken and offend.
im sick to death of these films that portray british people in bad light, whether it be past centuries or modern day. i have no doubts in my mind that the film 'the new world' will make the english look like complete cocks while the irish boy looks like a fucking hero. its sad as fuck, the yanks are the weorst for stereotyping in films, they stick to the same formula most of the time. another thing that boils my piss is how many english people pay to see it.
lol true, the russian is always in the mafia and is always a complete cunt the british person is always portrayed in a similar role but he dresses better has a posh accent and acts a bit ghey
Went to see this yesterday. Quite enjoyed it! Its on for like 2h45mins but it doesnt feel like that. Eric Bana - Oh my, yes please
is it not true that the jewish community is CONSTANTLY levelling claims of anti semitism in response to anything that may contradict their faith or may been seen to put a jew or the jewish community at a slight disadvantage to the rest of the population, often regardless if the dispute has anything to do with race or religion? A look in the media the last few years bears testament to this... At a more jovial level, its like the fucking scousers and their constant state self-pity. I've worked quite heavily in the jewish community in the past and it is one thing that has stuck with me... this isn't an attack joe, its an observation, but I'm sure you know that..
