    Council tax! Why? Why? Why?

With £160 per month I pay for council tax i could get myself a nice new car, but instead i have to pay for

Schools - For the kids i don't have

Support further & higher education - When I still don't have kids

Rubbish collection - When I can do it myself

Museums & art galleries - WTF!!!!!!

Administration of licences and permits - That I don't have

Administration of council tax - Without council tax you wouldn't need to pay for

Parking enforcement and car parks - When you're charged a bomb for parking in the first place

Funeral services at local cemeteries and crematoria - WTF!!!

Rocks and flowers on roundabouts - you have to be kidding!!

Libraries - Only useful if you can't find a photocopier

registrar of births, marriages and deaths - Even though we have to pay extra for these anyway

you live in soceity who's affluence you've propsered on, you've been presented with educational and employment oppertunities that wouldn't exist in that state that couldn't afford to set up a similar structure.

You've missed police, fire brigade, doctors, and ambulance service off your list.

You have to get a certificate from your Uni that states you are a student there and how long for and then send it into them and they don't charge you. Everyone in the hosue has to be a student for it to be free or they proportion it :)

I don't mind paying it apart from paying the wages of the people mentioned above who abuse people and damage property.

One of the binwagon drivers used to come to the door shouting and swearing for the car to be moved (how a clio can block the road when it's partly parked on the path is beyond me!). The car is always parked in the same place and no other driver ever has any trouble getting past it. On one occasion he even tried to get into my house. Came walking down the garden and tried to open my door as if he was visting someone he knew:eek:

Luckily the door was locked and he doesn't do our street anymore :D

It's a perfectly sound argument made by accountants every single day, I guess they are all talking shit too?

Fact is that you can live here and pay about 50% tax or you can go live in lots of other places and pay 0% tax.

I'm sorry if you don't like it, I don't like the fact that I will die one day but there is about as much point in moaning about tax (in the UK) as there is in moaning about mortality.

I don't mind paying 50% tax because I want to live in the UK.

The discussion is about money, If you have some you will need one.

Well would the issues be solved by the move? For example, if you hate the English weather move to Spain, or is that a daft thing to say as well?

Is anybody making them move? It's called a 'choice'. Stay here and pay lots of tax, leave and don't.

What shit? Is you life really so bad? How much tax have you actually paid this year?

If you didn't pay tax this country would be no better than the large amount of african hellholes where people are starving and dying every day.

I think I'll have the taxes thanks.

If you don't enjoy taxes as much as I do, I suggest you start up your own country where nobody pays taxes and everybody dies and drinks brown water for a living.

If you check out your council tax bill a percentage , or precept, goes to the local emergency services - not a very big percentage, granted.

Everyone has the right to whinge about council tax because it seems so unfair. The fact that we are taxed so many times (pensions your taxed twice!!) and we work hard and have to house those fuckers who do nothing but claim benefits, WE pay for!

Your forgetting the council gets MASSIVE amounts of money from speed cameras which most of us dont want in 90% of the places they are put.

Obviously the tax is required and I dont mind paying it to people who are genuine claimers but imo, they could lower the bill and get rid of loads of unneccesary costs.
