i don't want or need to stand up for melt, as i'm sure he'll have 1000 posts to drag this arguement out - however - you know nothing about him or what and why he does it

he puts parties on for everyone to come to, with an old school ideaology - it's nice balance between mainsteam and free parties.

Getting in mix mag was a bonus, along side the bigger, more established nights, which i wouldn't be ashamed of

as for pulling bigger crowds, do ANY dance nights in newcastle pull more the 500 regulary? other than the 'dig - which is in a class of it's own

The council should've been called the Board Board.

Then no-one would've been able to call it uncool.

why do you assume i dont know about him or what he does? I have been to a detox event, i went to the 1st castle one.

my point is, I fail to see how he can claim to run an underground dance night. to be a real underground night, shud it not be all word of mouth? not getting yourself listed in mixmag, posters in evey take away in town, standing outside "mainstream clubs" handing out flyers?

At the end of the day, he likes to think Detox has a underground cult type following, when it is no better then any other SMALL dance night!

btw bulletproof pull more then 500 regulary with out big name DJ's

But this could be overturned by the Council, no?

i don't see the problem running an event but knowing what is and isn't possible yet still trying to make it a success?

there's snobbery on both sides, from the casual city clubbers who want wishy washy men and trendy surroundings to the old schoolers who prefer their gigs in fields with a generator and a bag of acid

Who cares if a night is underground or not? This is a snobbery in itself.

If the nights good and you enjoy it thats what counts.

why dont you stop hiding behind your name then and reveal yourself

i fail to see what bullet proof has got to do with it

that has more promotion in town than anything else
they have the contract for wallpapering munchies
and hasnt it been running for 10 years

your post has more contradictions in it than owt else

I put djs on that i want to see and others have aske me to book

if you were wedging in about 5grand of your hard earned cash would you not want2utiliseevery medium possible to get people to go, and notjustrely on word of mouth

out of interest whichof the following are real underground nights

    freaky dancing
    hooked
    habit
    resistance
    curves
    influence
    shindig
    wax on
    disco noir
    promise
    psybernetix
    detox
    quality

    etc
    etc

cos every one of them at some point or other has used either relentless postering , dj mag / metro / mixmag and handing out flyers at other clubs to get people to go to their event

you wouldnt know what i like to think , but i tell you what I use all my own money to finance it, therfore i think ia m entitled to run it how i want

end of the day if you like it go, if you dont , dont go

so juts who are you, if you have balls you would fes up, but i guess you wont
