Shindig.... ... was fucking immense. Yousef's warmup was unreal utter filth Tong was a bit of a let-down, although his first hour was really good Bradford , finished with a mix of Inner City - Good Life then Comfortably Numb awesome set
I went I can honestly say as well in 9 years clubbing i havent ever que'd that long - it was total madness, and not for trance either Atmosphere was mint, i thought Tong totally dropped the pace after Yousef who was quality, i have just found out now actually who it was on before Tong Left at 2:30am cos i am at work now till 4pm so dunno what it got like after, Comfortably Numb is a fucking good tune tho..
We came out at about quarter past three for food and listened to the rest in the rave cafe and then in the car home - I couldn't believe that I'd actually come out and not stayed in First time I've been clubbing sober (avec car) and it was brilliant
I only went out for a steak n a few drinks, was good to see some of me mates in there who were all out n i havent seen for a while tho, all of them fully glass eyed to fuck :spangled:
one of my mates lost his shindig v plates last night - every time yousef dropped the bass his face was a right picture
Yeah I'm sure I could hear some pikeys talking on the mic. Tongy was much better before he went on the essential mix but I still liked him. Yousef was absolutely class, quite tough and bradford was alright aswell. The queue was fucking huge, took us ages to get in. We also had some mental indian driver saying he'd just been tuned in then trying to culture us on indian music. He kept asking for our confirmation everytime "this is more up your street, do you like this one? It's better than the last one isn't it" Can't believe yousef played pontape, even in shindig I can't escape that fucking tune.
Aye all the people on mates shoulders etc n trying to get on Radio 1 while its being broadcast, have a fucking word. The introduction to Newcastle as well with the Geordies talking about the Shindig n that I still had a class night like, am only being like this cos not only was i not pissed n can remem things but not :spangled: too.
i don't know if it's still the case but i think yousef has got a lot of stick on these message boards by people in newcastle over the last few years and it's totally undeserved. i went to uni in liverpool and yousef is worshiped down there by people in the liverpool club scene. he is probably the dj i have seen most in my years of a clubbing and i have to say he is a proper dj. doesn't just get carried away with fads and fashions, he stays true to what he likes to play and i have seen him play some amazing peak time sets as well as warm sets. he's also an extremely sound bloke to boot. if he'd warmed up at circus he would often then just walk round the club talking to people, not just sitting in the vip section.
Aye he was quality last night, obviously being a die hard trance fan when am in the Dig i do prefer the harder side of things n have seen the likes of Digweed / Howells all hammer it out really well - i just found out today it Yousef on before Tong and he was totally class, Tong dropped the pace i thought but again like i said cant comment on how he got after half 2. Yousef is a well respected DJ up here id say, he isnt short of a following thats for sure.
this pete tong mix is shite wtf is that ice cream/candy shop tune? he then procedes to mix it into an equally horrific audio bullys track
I fucking hate the Audio Bully's, how the fuck Armin struggled to follow them at Hi-Fi North is beyond me..
Completely agree with that. He played a similiar style at Timo Maas and seems to shy away from the electro stuff that's still about quite a lot just now. Good tough percussive house music that plods along nicely. A refreshing change. It was the same with Omid 16B, very percussive although more techy than yousef and it's so good to hear someone come on and stay true to their style instead of hammering the same stuff lawler/tong/angello e.t.c seem to do.
I could hear them in the distance at Global when I was looking for a drunken mate. It sounded horrendous with that daft MC bloke. Thought they were ok before that
