EH?? I see less point having a smoking ban in Amsterdam than i do anywhere else.

I mean who goes into the proper coffee shops for anything OTHER than to smoke? Especially the ones near the main square. The locals avoid them ones anyway and they are filled only with tourists who are there TO SMOKE!
Surely there would be no innocent victims getting passive somking in them. Even the staff are usually smoking. Bah!!

trip over there before next summer then.

Yeah, its hardly amsterdam if you cant sit in a den and get fucked. No logic behind these bans in my opinion. There should be a book at the entrance to maybe 1 in 10 pubs/ coffee shops that you have to sign and agree that you are entering an establishment where people smoke. Its not really hard and it would keep people happier. Amsterdam won't be as popular now like.

God knows...that article isnt the clearest about whats happening:

"How exactly this will affect the wacky baccy trade is unclear, but things will never be the same again in one of the world's most progressive and tolerant cities."

unless they have special licences or something for the coffee shops and ban it everywhere else. I dont see why they couldnt just have signs out the front saying "smoking on premises..enter at own risk"

how do you get that? surely there will be some kind of tax on it which the money would be spent on hospitals or roads or something. I doubt the cafe owners pocket the full whack off every bag of smoke they sell.

    good job.

I do apologize, sometimes my English is not so good, as you can imagine, not being from around your wood neck.

Sometimes its difficult for someone from another country to understand what someone is talking about when someone types out the name of a city, followed by an emotion, then leaving the rest to be worked out by the reader.

That'll never work! They can't expect the place to be a brighter, less sinister place if us brits are expected to stay standing on two legs after being forced to smoke blunts and bongs due to the new laws
