Aye thats what i thought. Surely if somone breaks into YOUR house, to nick YOUR hard earned cash,YOUR allowed to crack some skulls?

i suppose theres always the chance that he wasnt a burglar and that the bloke just yucked his mate ower the balcony cos he beat him on pro evo...

I can see it from both sides.. Fair enough if someone breaks into your home you should have every right to kick the shit out of him until they're no longer a threat. However, there will have been a load of cases where the burglar has been overpowered and the owner of the property has continued to kick the shit out of him because they're so angry. I don't think that is right either. The police have to arrest the owner if they find a bloke with life threatening injuries from falling from the fourth floor window. It doesn't mean he's going to get done for it.

Nah i think if you find some fucker in your house, who shouldnt be there, then your allowed to do whatever you want to them.

If the burglar reckons hes hard done by, when hes got two smashed knee caps, its his own fault really innit?

Fair enough, it would be hard for the police to distinguish between burglarys and something else, but if i found someone trying to nick me oven gloves id smash fuck out of them.

So what if it was just someone who'd stumbled through the wrong front door after a heavy night out? Would you still fell like you'd done the right thing the next day by taking things further than they needed to?

Well if there that pissed that they got into the wrong house i think you would be able to tell.

    a) Theyd be rather loud
    b) Theyd be swaying about
    c) The smell. (clutching at straws here like)

I mean id have to be sure it was someone thieving, for me to go that far like, but if they had a swag bag and that, i feel it should be the home owners right to give them a bit of a pasting.

So you should just leave them to beat the shit out of you then steal your possessions?

Your stereotypical views of burglars is what would ultimately see you locked up in prison for assaulting someone.

    a) You'd normally only notice an intuder in your house because of noise.
    b) They'd be swaying about!?! Are you going to put the lights on and observe their movements? Lets not forget a potential burglar would probably have some sort of weapon so you don't want to be letting them know you're behind them.
    c) you lost all your straws on this one. :p

Hang on a second, it's gonna be a lot harder to chuck someone out of a window than it would be to scare them off/phone the police/give them a smack over the head.

I didn't get the impression that the chav attacked the guy from reading the article? If it was the case that the guy was coming at him with a weapon and it can be shown that the only thing he could do to defend himself was push the guy out of the window then fair cop, I'm sure if that is the case they will not press charges.

I don't think I could stab someone and I don't think I could throw someone to their probable death. I just don't have it in me.

I'd do my best to get out of the house then phone the police. He can nick all my stuff, it's insured I could not careless.

See this is one thing I think the yanks have right, someone breaks into your property you have the right to kill them. there'd be a hell of a less burglaries i reckon.

There are fucking loads of burglaries in the US  Don't copy anything they do just because it sounds good in theory. If we changed our laws so that we could pretty much kill an intruder, every burglar would be armed with knives and guns.

Like i've already said, how are you to know if someone is in your house because they want to steal/hurt you? There are other possibilities.

If I heard someone in my house I would find it easier to run in the room and push them rather than fight them. Why should you take the risk of being stabbed off the twat when you can just do that? More than likely a burglar will have some kind of tool with him, ie a screwdriver.

I'd love to see the day one of you's got burgled and you're confronted with him in your living room. "well hello Mr Burglar man, could you please step outside with me for a moment while we have a punch up using the Queensbury rules".

I would actually pay to see the look on a big nasty bastards face after you've pushed him into a coffee table. You'd fucking shit yourself and be off in a shot.

 Maybe you should ask him if he's a burglar over a nice cup of earl grey.

There shouldn't be a law that you can do anything you want to them but there should be laws to stop innocent victims being punished for protecting themselves and there property.

What your saying is you shouldn't be allowed to cause damage to the burglar and you should run off and leave them to have away with your gear? If I pushed him to the floor and then proceeded to hit him in the head with a bat I shouldn't be punished for that. If he got up he would do the same to me so why should I take that risk?

Do you not think giving someone brain damage or even killing them is a bit disproportionate?
