    Bad Landlords

got back to newcastle yesterday to find ive got no electricity downstairs and no heating anywhere.. i also have no front door handle, no lock on my window, a dishwasher that doesnt work :spangled: a fire alarm that goes off randomly and a front door with about a cm gap around the edge...

weve told the cunts a million times about this and they just shrug us off..

is there anything we can do about them like reporting them to the council?

short of bricking the fuckers windows im fresh out..

the landlord is northumbrian estates on chilli road... if anyone is considering getting a house with these useless fuckwits, dont bother...

Luckily tenants have remarkably good rights when it comes to this kind of thing - your landlord is breaking the law.

How about telling him he has one more chance to sort things out asap before you get the law involved.

    Could be a start maybe.

The Students Advice Centre (or similar) at your student union or the Accomodation Office at your Uni should have names of solicitors that deal with those probs. I got an hour each year legal aid for dealing with shitty landlords in B'ham, so use your hour and your flatmates hours wisely (don't all go at once...). Screw the fucker.

One more bit of advice: NEVER RENT IN BIRMINGHAM. (don't bother going there anyway, it's shit) :)

    as if!!

jus been at my parents house for the holidays, bout 2 weeks an its so fucking annoying!

no proper bedroom anymore, neighbours complain if i have music on late, or loud any time of the day, sooooooooooooo many questions from the parents too - everytime i go out they want to know where, an when i get in they ask where i've been! not in a bad way, jus like a curious way, but my dad will ask me, then few mins later my mother will, then my bro!!

also no movie or sports channels an they have cable!!

also they wake me up when they get up for work at about 7am...

haha, jus re-read that an i sound like a proper little stuck-up spoilt brat! :strop:

Yeah, know what u mean. I moved out for a year couple of years ago now. It was good, having ur own place and freedom etc. To be able to walk round the house in the nudey and have a bath in peace!!! Ahhhhh! But I also lived a very diff lifestyle then. ;)

At least now, all my washing up/cleaning etc is done for me, even my tea each day....cant complain!! :D And all for £20 a week!! :king:

miller - i'd say deff move in wi mates tho, think i'd get way too lonely/bored if i was on my own...

yeah, suppose thats one of the good things bout going away to uni, i've stayed wi the same group of housemates that i was given at the start of uni, in the uni houses!

been lucky in that they're now my best mates, hardly ever (well never) any ill feeling in the house!

unfortunatly, like you cookie, they like to walk about the house naked... but then who doesn't ;)

jus makes me wish i was living with girls sometimes tho :D :p
