Yes, yes, yes, yes yes yes yes.

I can't stress this anymore. If a non-smoker is in a pub/bar having a drink, they can't just take their drink outside to get away from the smoke.

If a smoker is in a pub/bar, they CAN go outside to have a smoke. I hate it when smokers say "Well don't go to bars if you don't like the smoke"...fuck off, we have every right to go out for some drinks like you lot.

Also not just bars, pubs, and clubs. But bus stops, train stations, shopping centres (eg. ELDON SQUARE  ) etc etc etc.

I might move to Ireland :D

    Re: Ban smoking in public?

    its just work places...

and too right, why should people have to suffer just cos they work in a bar/restaurant?

and what happens when a barmaid/waitress becomes pregnant? they would have to give up their job at a v early stage or risk harming their unborn child...

No i dont think there should be a blanket ban, but places should become more aware and take a pro-active stance to provide smoke free areas. This can be from having no smoking zones which are actually enforced to improving air con systems.

    Indeed...febreze...:D
Tis really bad though! if smoking got banned in public places, loads of people would quit...cos smoking is 'social' even though i dont really see how it is...:D
Would be a lot easier though, cos which smokers dont want 2 quit? They do its just really hard and u cant be arsed...cos its annoying...
It isnt going 2 happen though...nice thought though :chill: :D

The thing about "smoke free areas" is that they never are! I've never been to a restaurant where there's actually a wall with a CLOSED door between the smoking and non-smoking areas. Usually its just signs saying "No-smoking area" but the table next to you is a "Smoking area"...wtf?

Even at work, the smoking room next to the canteen, the door is left open half the time and the air conditioning is absolutely crap. Need some sort of proper system with 2 doors which spray you when you leave the smoking room :D
