    Beckham Or Bentley??

in my opinion beckham should start the qualifiers ahead of bentley he is always gonna give the team assists. fair enough he is not playing at the highest level or at the same pace as in the past but that happens to every player plus he has never been a player to burst pass someone. his fitness levels are still second to none and that is because what usa lack in technique and skill they make up for in physical fitness.

as for bentley their is no hiding the fact he is a talented player but for me its only ever gonna be at club level - at least for a good few year until he matures as a player. he is young and desrves a chance in friendlies but everytime he has came on for england he run's around like a headless chicken and his delivery into the box is awful. on the other hand beckham is composed and always gives at least 2 goal scoring chances to the team per game if not more.

i think this will be his team!!! he tends to play a 4-5-1 whereever he has been and he is not scared of leaving big players out (owen, beckham, bentley etc)

in my opinion this would be the best formation and play beckham and cole as wingbacks as beckham is good at tracking back and also getting forward as is ashley cole. i would leave lampard out and sit hargreaves in front of back 3 o tidy up nd let barry nd gerrard link up like they have shown they can do. let rooney drop off nd owen get in behind.

i think 4-5-1 is the best formation if a side can pull it off. as long as a team has midfielders that can get forward to support the front man its very effective - not the most exciting however!

I dont think Rooney is good at the lone striker role, he could however play as an attacking midfielder supporting a striker but if we're honest we dont have a world class goal scorer available to us

wenger should seriously start turning walcott into a striker instead of using him on the wing - hes a fuckin deadly finisher like. england would benefit loads if he was turned into a great striker like to partner rooney.

    Milner ;)

Seriously tho, Id try this formation (although trying anything in friendlies is absolutely pointless because nobody seems to put any effort in at all)

    ----------------James-------------------
    Richards--Terry---Ferdinand--Cole
    --------------Hargeaves---------------
    ---------Gerrard----Carrick-----------
    ----------------Rooney-----------------
    ----------Owen---Crouch-------------

Richards and either Cole or Bridge bombing down the flanks, Hargreaves as holding midfielder, Gerrard and Carrick as playmakers (I think Carrick is so under-rated, his vision and ability to pick out the strikers is unreal), Rooney in the hole (he always drops too deep when playing up front in 4-4-2 leaving the other striker isolated), and then Owen and Crouch up front. Crouch simply because we dont have many target men who can hold the ball up, we could maybe try Agbonlahor's pace instead to stop us trying the long ball all the time.

Im sick of us sitting back and passing the ball about at the back, all of our players are used to paying attacking football at pace so lets play to their strengths instead of trying to play like every other country.

He has the potential, part of our problem is that no striker has the intelligence or vision to link up with rooney upfront, hes Englands biggest football genius since gazza but no English forward does him justice

I think Carrick is so over rated if Im honest, he can pass a ball but I'd much prefer to have scholes back in the england team than play carrick

to be honest i really like carrick as a player!! as long as their is an attacking player such as gerrard alongside (like scholes 4 man u) i just dont think he offers a goal threat and england need the midfield to chip in as rooney isnt a proven goalscorer at international level. defoe definately cant partner him i def say give walcott a chance in the trinidad game as hes so young nobody knows his best position yet he maybe the answer.

I agree, he shit for England unless Gerrards not playing, its a fact that they cant play together, Lampard would always be a benchwarmer for me

Beckham over Bentley by a mile for me.
Personally i would play Lampard instead of Gerrard.
Owen should start up top with Rooney.

The few times I've seen Bentley play at International level, I think he's looked well out of his depth. He's another classic example of a player who's good at club level but won't hack it on a world stage. Beckham still looks sharp and I rekon he's got another year at international level. After that I'd have a midfield of Hargreaves, J.Cole, Gerrard and Barry, but it will never happen. Regardless of who the England manager is they will still pick Lampard because of his club form. You'd think he would have stepped his game up after seeing Gerrard boss it the other day, but he still did absolutley nothing of note....
