Yip, they are so uncomfortable that you've told them that they don't want to argue the point.

Don't forget to lie with your head hanging off the end of a sofa (so it's upside down) when you call in.

Just try to talk normally, you will sound really ill anyway so don't force it.

I remember I phoned in sick once years ago, and said I was in a rush to leave home to get to work and I tripped down the stairs and twisted my ankle!!

When I went back to work a day or two later I had to pretend I still had a hobble just to make it more beleivable.
I kept forgetting tho, and walking normally in front of everyone!!
I walked across the office in front of everyone normally, got near the managers desk and suddenly remembered I was sposed to have had a twisted ankle lol, so quickly started limping!!

sickness and diarrhoea doesn't always work. it might get you the night off to go on the lash, but it u work in a 'food environment' , and extra vigilant HR manager might want medical proof you're ok b4 returning to work... don't wanna contaminate customers...

also - don't ring in saturday mornings "i've got one of those 24 hour bugs, i'll be fine for monday, definately" yeah, right - as obvious as a taliban in wallsend.
