I've just seen the clip from the memorial service where she got up & said a bit about her dad...

Not only was what what she said heart warming but the way she held herself together was unbelievable. don't think i'd b able to show that much self control over my grief if it was me.

what a brave little girl she is :D

its got media coverage because the guy was well liked and did a lot to promote the profile of animals and help a lot of them .

He deserved a good send off imo .

things should slow down withe the media now though .

I just think it's funny that before he died everyone just viewed him as a novelty, or 'that mad aussie bloke who wrestles crocdiles and pisses around with snakes'. Now he's dead everyone's gushing on about the conservation work he's done, which, although it's admirable, most people either didn't know about or didn't/don't give a shit about. ITV had a tribute show for him on Saturday and it was nothing but a patronising joke. They had Jonno Coleman on giving his opinion for fuck's sake, talk about being desperate to get your face on telly.

It's just like when John Peel died, about a million fans crawled out the woodwork saying how he'd changed their lives and he was an icon. Obviously he did a lot for his industry too, but you never heard anything from these 'fans' until he died.

I live with three australians. They watched it to help them in the grieving process.

    Anyway, I'm like the Murphy's me :D

How would you hear about his fans though, it's not like they could go to a gig or anything, they were stuck indoors watching TV? Same with John Peel, they were at home listening to the radio, or used to watch the Old Grey Whistle Test etc.

I do think it has been a little over the top, particularly in this country, but saying it's disgusting is too.

You'd hear about them in the same way you hear about anything people are interested in, just through general conversation I guess

    You're probably right
