Could that fact that my kitchen sink has mixer taps be part of the problem rather than it being a boiler problem ???

mixer taps can be supplied via a thermostatic valve which balances the pressure from the hot and cold supplies. If it goes off and the cold water pressure is high then it can run cold at the tap.

What sort of boiler is it? Have a look for the manufacturers name and model and let me know. Is the heating firing up ok? Is the fault with the water intermittent or is it not working at all? Does it fire up when you have the hot water tap fully open but not when you have it half way? Get back to me and ill e happy to help! :D

Areet , just phoned our lass to get the make and model etc and she says it now appears to be working as she is in the middle of doing the dishes lol ??? How strange , would it fook work last night and i tried resetting it over and over again !!

Wot was happening last night was if the hot tap downstairs was turned on it would fire up ( tap and flame lights would come on ) then both just cut out after 2 mins ( yet the boiler ON green light was still on :spangled: no error lights etc ) then trying the hot tap again wudnt make it fire up at all BUT the upstairs bath and sink taps would make it fire up again as if nowt was the matter ( tap and flame lights on ) ???? :spangled: BUT to get the downstairs tap to even attempt to make the boiler fire up again i had to turn the boiler off at the mains for a few mins then do a reset ???

The central heating was comming on no problem either !!!

Without looking at the boiler its hard to say to be honest mate! It sounds like the hot water diaphragm is stretched but different combis have different operating mechanisms when trying to ignite. The problem is there and will probably get worse. Find out the make and model and i might be able to narrow it down a bit for you! :)

Intermittent faults like the one your getting with the 24 cdi its most likely to be the Circuit board or the air pressure switch. The board is an expensive part but the switch is quite cheap. But like i said its hard to diagnose something without being able to fault find properly.
