Is that a sick attempt at humour?

Never thought id see the day that trance_fan thought paying less for something was a bad idea.

The tax is used for a reason though isn't it.

They're saying up to a £15 BILLION loss in excise duty and that shortfall will have to be made up from somewhere. So we will gain in one area and lose in another and i dont say why i should have to pay more for stuff so that smokers can save a few quid.

Yeah I can see mr brown raising the income tax by quite alot to make up the huge chunk that will be missing in his budget income!

Best way is to move abraod for the cheap boooz and tabs without paying the ridiculous tax's britain seems to have.

I can't see the government allowing it! Hope it doesn't, it would be a very bad move.

Perhaps a less selfish perspective of the issue is required?

Im sure gordon brown will find a way to make the tax up another way from the cash he loses on this.

A tax on happiness, or the hours of sun in a day, or the ratio of reds to greens in a packet of wine gums tax.

Either way - the government needs the cash to fund its illegal wars, and to pay people to sit at home with 'bad backs' and 'severe depression' .... oh, and for junkies who have went cold turkey from being in prison
