I think at that would start the nights of better cos always better to build night up instead of jumpin straight in to big tune music.

    Re: I

Yeah been reading on here about people like Adam sheridan playing big tunes at half 10. That is bad DJing imo - a DJ should adjust his set to what time they are playing. A night should follow a flow rather than just being about individual DJs

    Re: Re: I

thats what promise was all about but has strayed from that lately but i think was needed to be done tho definately because the prog warm ups dont suit everyone and the club wasnt filling up til nearly when they were finished and the main dj was coming on. so from marks point of view scrap the prog and get straight into it get the club fuller as early as possible. and its worked. cant knock him there like.

I'm all for Tulip's prog warm ups, in case you hadn't noticed!

As I've said before I don't like entering Promise at the deep end with trance or even hard trance blairing through the speakers. It's too early! The crowd likes to be brought into it. It was nice when Tulip warmed up.

It would be interesting to hear the promoters slant on things... for all you know - it might bring in more punters when the music is banging from the word go.

Personally i like a slow, almost annoying buildup...... but there has to be some reason why people say its a load of :monkey: tunes from the word go.

As shite and boring as everyone used to call it, it's the way for natural progression through a night. It's pointless banging out Hard Trance at 9 o' clock, it sounds amateur and unprofessional.

Also, in the wake of the Promise 'revamp' with it going monthly and putting on more 'big name' DJs on nights, it would pave the way for some of peoples favourite prog DJs too.
Richard is an excellent prog DJ, but I'm sure sometimes he'd like to have some later slots, so he can play the Hard Trance he also favours, which could be these times, when the Jon' 00' Flemings, Dave Seamans and Tom Holkenborg's (Junkie XL) of this world get a chance to strut their stuff ;)

The thing is though Promise now has enough time to play with to do this and please all. I mean isn't it open from 9-4 now? That's 7 hours! We used to only have 5-6, and crammed prog in there.

    I think it's worth a go.

I'd go for that but would the kids...

Nights do need progression but how many of you prog supporters will or do turn up at 9/10 pm for the warm up?

could we have ashley caselle? his warm ups are wicked, and that would allow rich to play later in the night.

too be honest it wud be nice for the night to build up more, but not having an hour of prog at the start doesnt bother me, its normally dead around that time and theres no atmosphere in the club. I would prefer to have it but cant see it on a regular basis.
