CD decks Im thinking of joining the masses and ditching my vinyl. But, im on a REALLY tight budget. So i was thinking of getting something like this Anyone know how good these are? i only really wanna do basic stuff like beatmatch and the like.
i really really wouldnt like mate... get a pioneer cdj800 or even 200 even if it means only buying 1 for the timebeing it will be better in the long run than gettin out else
aye iv been on the look out for a pair of secondhand 200s like but come across nothing. im basically after anything though at the minute.
bid on this & i'll give u £50 for the headphones http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PIONERR-CDJ-2...ryZ91384QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Iv only really got £200 to spend... Another reason i was looking at getting something like this is because a lot of bars and stuff have these sort of setups, so then i can get a bit of practice in before i take over the world with my fusion of minimal and d'n'b
I've got a pair of those sitting on top of my wardrobe. They're alright to start off with and they play CDRs, but like people have already pointed out they're very limited in terms of features. If you're looking at playing a few bars and stuff remember that most of them don't have cutting edge gear and at the very least practicing on a pair of these will prove handy. I've got a DNS5000 in addition to those and I'm currently looking at getting another one or adding a CDJ1000 to my setup, if you're wanting something you can practise effects on, you can't go wrong with some of the budget stanton CD decks or CDJ800s if you only want the one deck.
if they play cdr's and you can get a pair for under £60 then i would go for it theres not point inspending loads on flash gear that you'll just sell in 6 months (like a lot of people on this board seem to do )
Dare i say it, but a laptop these days seems like a better option, with a copy of traktor or ableton, and an external soundcard/controller. (Cant believe i said that).
for £300 you can get a pair of reloop rmp 1's they are unreal for the price..and they are packed with functions ! easily on a par with cdj800's and the rmp2's are now standard in many clubs in holland and germany. if not they had a pair of cdj 100's in cash convertors on saturday.
Ive got a laptop (macbook with 2gb ram and 120gb HD) right now .... and i'd really really really love to go back and rebuy all the cdj kit i used to have at a cost of probably knocking on for 1700-2000 quid..... .... or i could just get an external soundcard for 100-200, and an external MIDI controller for about the same (for traktor/ableton) Seein as most people start off on their pc's these days when it comes to non vinyl purchases (downloaded music, then burned or used digitally) then its getting to the point where its almost hard to justify the hardware. Still - you cant beat the feel of real hardware. I had a blast on traktor on the train on monday and it was quite amazing the results you can get with a couple of clicks... wasnt quite the same as doing it all on a full setup.
The software thats available now is amazing. I remember getting this sequencer years ago and doing a 10 minute mix along the lines of Dirt Chamber sessions and it literally took me weeks to do it . Ableton is the absolute don as far as im concerned, not in as a medium for playing out, but that it allows you to edit every single track so that they are much more playable and they fit better. I had tons of tunes that I'd want to play but they were such cunts to mix in or had any annoying bit in them or went on for too long, so that I just bother with them....those days are long gone....bosh it into Ableton, rearrange it, tidy it up and burn to CD...the whole process takes less than 20minutes but its like getting a brand new quality track.
I served my time on Soundlab DLP-1's not like all these flash bastards who rinse a bank loan on all the best gear
Iv bin thinking of ableton and that, but im not sure about it. Is ableton worth thefting from a torrent site? just for a mess about on, see what its like?
