    Cheap Flights to Amsterdam

Ive got some but ive heard there is a bit of a scam as the cheap flight doesnt include some sort of tax you have to pay at the airport. Anyone know anything about this???

The only thing I've heard like this recently is the price increment a lot of the airlines added to already booked tickets due to the fuel increase - passing on the cost to their customers.

Have you had your tickets sorted for a while?

I flew two weeks ago with KLM. Paid about £60, but wasn't asked for anything at Schipol. Apart from my passport that is :)

Don't have anything that could break and spill in your hand luggage without being in a 'sealy' bag. There was a table jammed full of expensive make up etc abandoned due to this new sheite from the airlines.

I'm canny jealous that your going tho!

You dont get charged anything extra when you land in Amsterdam.

When you buy your tickets online, some websites (I think Easyjet) only show you the actual price of the tickets. When you go thru the website checkout it gives you the proper total including airport tax, which is usually an extra £40 I think.

i fly every weekend there and never pay over £30 rtn as we have an account with klm but we have also flown with jet2 for £20 and never payed anything extra, except last weekend when they asked for £10 for an extra bag i had,as you pay for more than 1 bag nowadays.
if you booked the flight and said you had only 1 bag and turn up with 2 they will charge you for it whether its under 15kg or not.

usually for this price you will have to travel on shit days like tues or weds

This lecturer i had at college reckons his mate just turns up on the day and pays about £2 for a flight if theres seats left.

Something along the lines of just paying the tax or something because it costs the airline more to have an empty seat.

anyone know if this is possible?

    its rubbish !!
the way it all works is that the cheap seats are booked well in advance from 6mths -2mths b4 flight and they only allow up to 30% of the seats to go at this price, the rest are full price !!
if they add a passenger then the fuel needed goes up and the taxes at the other end for the airline goes up so this will not happen (unless there is a seat that has already been paid for and a customer has not turned up) this is very rare but does happen !!

Been doing a bit of research on going to the dam in july.

DFDS do a 3 night break - overnight on the boat, a night in a budget hotel, then over night on the boat again. £77

With it being little more than a month away the budget airlines cost around £70 return. Then you have to fork out for hotels over there.

Anyone thats been across on the ferry, is it any good?

    Cheers

aye but the ferries are shit, theres nowhere to get decent food, and the drinks are expensive as a roman abramovich divorce.

since it takes 14 hours one way, id rather have the chance i might pay a bit more, and have an extra 28 hours in amsterdam too

Lucky for me all my flights are paid for, heh :D

I did notice the other day when I was checking prices that the cheapest flight to Amsterdam leaving Saturday then coming back Sunday was £440. Then 1 day later, I checked the same flight and it was £105.

    Strange :groovy:

KLM use the colour code system, they give 1/3 of the flight at cheap fares if either staying min 2 nights or a sat night.
they sell all the full fares before letting the cheaper fares go.

up till april we had an account with them but they got more greedy so we cancelled it (since we did they constantly beg us to re-open it) but i dont mind going to stansted 1st.
